Excessive mitochondrial fission is a prominent early event and contributes to dysfunction, synaptic failure, neuronal cell death in the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, it remains be determined whether inhibition excessive beneficial mammal models AD. To determine dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1), key regulator fragmentation, can disease-modifying therapeutic target for AD, we examined effects Drp1 inhibitor on dysfunctions induced by oligomeric amyloid-β (Aβ) neurons...

Significance Considering that Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a chronic progressing over long period of time, even slight increase BACE1 expression may have profound effect on Aβ accumulation. We describe previously unknown mechanism negatively regulates and BACE1-AS demonstrate its pivotal role in the progression Tau pathologies cognitive impairment two mouse models AD. Given recent failures clinical trials using enzymatic inhibitors BACE1, it critical to explore alternative approaches such as...

Objective Stroke is a leading cause of mortality and disability. The peptidyl‐prolyl cis / trans isomerase Pin1 regulates factors involved in cell growth. Recent evidence has shown that plays major role apoptosis. However, the ischemic stroke remains to be investigated. Methods We used overexpression knockdown manipulate expression explore effects death on stress vitro mouse model. also Pin 1 inhibitor, γ‐secretase Notch1 intracellular domain (NICD1)‐deleted mutant cells, cells investigate...

Abstract Notch signaling pathways modulate various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, adhesion and communication. Recent studies have demonstrated that Notch1 also regulates hepatic glucose production lipid synthesis. However, the effect of on oxidation has not yet been directly investigated. To define function in metabolism, wild type mice deficient antisense transgenic (NAS) were fed a high-fat diet. High-fat diet -fed NAS exhibited marked reduction...

Abstract Structural deformation modifies the bandgap, exciton fine structure and phonon energy of semiconductors, providing an additional knob to control their optical properties. The impact can be exploited in colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), wherein structural stresses imposed three dimensions while defect formation is suppressed by controlling surface growth kinetics. Yet, over QDs free from optically active defects has not been reached. Here, we demonstrate strain-graded...

The objective this study was to determine whether Notch1 might play a role regulating T-regulatory cells (Tregs) animal RA. Methods: Collagen-induced (CIA) collagen antibody-induced (CAIA) were induced C57BL/6, antisense transgenic (NAS) or DBA1/J mice.
