Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an incurable chronic inflammation of the enteric tract. The aim this study was to investigate protective effects arabinogalactan from Lycium barbarum on DSS-induced colitis. A homogeneous isolated and purified L. barbarum, named LBP-3, which mainly consisted arabinose galactose with a molar ratio 1.00 : 0.82. LBP-3 treatment remarkably alleviated body weight loss, histopathological damage overproduction pro-inflammatory cytokines enzymes in UC mice. Additionally,...
Gut microbes and untargeted/targeted metabolomics were combined to comprehensively understand the therapeutic effect underlying mechanism of Lycium barbarum arabinogalactan (LBP-3) in DSS-induced colitis mice.
Abstract Understanding how dietary polysaccharides affect mucin O -glycosylation and gut microbiota could provide various nutrition-based treatments. Here, the -glycan profile of colonic mucosa microbiome were investigated in C57BL/6J mice fed six structurally diverse a mixture fibers. Dietary increased total -glycans, mainly by stimulating neutral glycans. Highly branched arabinogalactan promoted terminally fucosylated core 1 -glycans; whereas linear polysaccharides, including pectin,...
The fruits of Lycium barbarum are considered medicinal foods with high nutritional value and bioactivity. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect a crude L. polysaccharide (LBP) two derived fractions, LBP-1 LBP-2, on lifespan Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly). average fruit flies was extended by supplementing their diet either three LBP preparations. vivo analysis antioxidant activities detected increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT) decreased malondialdehyde (MDA)...
Methods for the detection of adulterated milk are essential assessing quality goat products. We hypothesized that oligosaccharides could provide a basis this purpose and compared levels α3'-galactosyllactose (α3'-GL) N-acetylhexaminyllactose (NHL) between bovine using reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. The α3'-GL was detected to be three times more abundant in than milk, whereas NHL showed opposite trend. Linear relationships were established relative proportions different...
A water-soluble polysaccharide designated as LRLP4-A, with an average molecular weight of 135 kDa, was isolated from the leaves Lycium ruthenicum. Structural analysis LRLP4-A indicated that it a highly branched backbone consisting (1→6)-linked β-galactopyranosyl residues substituted at O-3 by arabinosyl or galactosyl residues. The branches consisted (1→3)-linked β-Araf and α-Arap, (1→5)-linked β-Araf, β-Galp, (1→2, 4)-linked α-Rhap terminal α-Araf residue, respectively. proposed structure was:
