ABSTRACT By in situ hybridisation we have examined the expression of p53 during mouse embryogenesis from day 8.5 to 18.5 post coitum (p.c.). High levels mRNA were detected all cells p.c. and 10.5 embryo. However, at later stages development, became more pronounced differentiation specific tissues e.g. brain, liver, lung, thymus, intestine, salivary gland kidney. In undergoing terminal differentiation, level declined strongly. hybridisa-tion signals also observed postmitotic but not yet...
The multicenter, randomized, phase IV, intergroup AGO-B WSG PreCycle trial (NCT03220178) evaluated the impact of CANKADO-based electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) assessment on quality life (QoL) in hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients receiving palbociclib and an aromatase inhibitor + fulvestrant. CANKADO PRO-React, a European Union-registered medical device, is interactive autonomous...
The synthesis of a new class antisense oligonucleotide compounds with 3′-3′ and 5′-5′ end inversion (INV-oligonucleotides) is described. Besides the advantage simplicity synthesis, physico-chemical studies show that these do not disturb Watson—Crick base-pairing. INV-oligonucleotides have half-life 30 h in human serum. We they are capable inhibiting SV40 large T-antigen expression COS-1 cells, both vitro vivo, by modulation cellular oncoprotein p53 vitro.
The closure of a stoma site has high incidence incisional hernia (IH) development, reaching 30% in some studies. Location and defect size the abdominal wall depend on type formed, most commonly loop ileostomy or terminal sigmoid colostomy. retrospective single-centre study includes all consecutive patients who underwent reversal between 2010 2016 at Department Visceral, Transplant Thoracic Surgery Innsbruck. Patient characteristics follow-up examinations were evaluated for IH both any other...
To search for proteins interacting with the glucocorticoid receptor, we adapted Aronheim's reverse RAS recruitment system relying on Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant cdc25-2 , which has a temperature-dependent defect in its signaling pathway driving proliferation. The full-length human receptor (NR3C1, isoform-α) was attached to yeast plasma membrane either of two orientations and used as bait screen HeLa cell cDNA library. Library were fused constitutively active, soluble RAS, complementing...
In contrast to mycoplasma virus L1 and L2 circular DNA, L3 linear DNA is not biologically active in polyethylene glycol-mediated transfection. Electroporation of Acholeplasma laidlawii, however, leads plaque formation after incubation with DNA. The efficiency electroporation-mediated transfection 1/10 that as estimated Trypsin treatment cells before addition increases the uptake.
Introduction: Open abdomen (OA) treatment with negative-pressure therapy (NPT) was initiated for perforated diverticulitis and subsequently extended to other abdominal emergencies. The aim of this retrospective study analyze the indications, procedures, duration NPT, outcomes all our patients. Methods: All consecutive patients treated intra-abdominal NPT from January 1, 2008 December 31, 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: A total 438 (44% females) a median (range) age 66 (12–94)...
Summary Peritoneal carcinomatosis from colorectal cancer is associated with a poor prognosis and usually treated systemic chemotherapy immunotherapy alone. In patients isolated peritoneal (PC) without nonperitoneal metastases, however, cytoreductive surgery (CRS) has been shown to significantly improve outcome achieve even cure in selected combination therapy. The additional use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal (HIPEC) primarily indicated control microscopical residual tumor tissue the cavity...
Abstract Background In fundoplication, mobilization of the distal oesophagus and proximal stomach is essential to obtain a sufficient tension-free intra-abdominal oesophageal length for creation an efficient antireflux barrier. Most surgical literature anatomical illustrations do not describe nerve branches running from diaphragm stomach. After observing small at laparoscopic penetrating left crus lateral hiatus apparently into stomach, cadaver study was undertaken identify origin target...
Background Anemia is present in up to two-thirds of patients undergoing colorectal surgery mainly caused by iron deficiency and inflammation. As anemia associated with increased risk perioperative death, diagnosis treatment preoperative according etiology have been recommended. Objective The aim the study was assess if association between survival determined severity alone or also etiology. Methods To determine prevalence etiology, hematological parameters, C-reactive protein, ferritin...
Intravariceal cyanoacrylate injection is a highly effective and safe procedure for the treatment of bleeding gastric varices. Reports large series mostly describe minor complications already recognized with endoscopic therapy sclerosing agents, including dysphagia, chest pain, fever, local ulcerations. Nevertheless, some cases severe cyanoacrylate-specific due to embolization have been described [1] [2] [3]. Technical difficulties, risk sclerotherapy needle clogging, sticking tip accessory...
Abstract Purpose Patients with colon cancer are usually included in an intensive 5-year surveillance protocol after curative resection, independent of the tumor stage, though early stages have a considerably lower risk recurrence. The aim this study was to analyze adherence follow-up and recurrence patients UICC I II. Methods In retrospective study, we assessed who underwent resection for II between 2007 2016. Data were collected on demographics, stages, therapy, surveillance, recurrent...
A 54-year old male presented with a history of haematochezia. Subsequent endoscopy revealed large rectal polyp. Endoscopic ultrasound and MRI scan demonstrated confinement to the mucosal layer. Accordingly, transanal mucosectomy was performed uneventful recovery. Histopathologic exam confirmed complete resection tubulo-villous adenoma high-grade dysplasia. Six weeks postoperatively, an immobile, broad-based, friable polyp found fixed site previous polypectomy. Biopsy resulted in...
