Early mobilization in critically ill patients has been shown to prevent bed-rest-associated morbidity. Reported reasons for not mobilizing patients, thereby excluding or delaying such intervention, are diverse and comprise safety considerations high-risk with multiple organ support systems. This study sought demonstrate that early performed within the first 24 h of ICU admission proves be feasible well tolerated vast majority patients.

Abstract Background The aim of this retrospective comparative study was to assess the impact COVID-19 and delayed emergency department access on surgery outcomes, by comparing main clinical outcomes in period March–May 2019 (group 1) with same during national lockdown Italy (March–May 2020, group 2). Methods A comparison (groups 1 versus 2) subgroup analysis were performed between patients’ demographic, medical history, surgical, management characteristics. Results Two-hundred forty-six...

Large cell carcinomas (LCCs) of the lung are heterogeneous and may be different lineages. We analyzed 56 surgically resected tumors classified as LCC on basis pure morphologic grounds, using a panel immunophenotypic markers (adenocarcinoma [ADC]-specific, thyroid transcription factor-1, cytokeratin 7, napsin A; squamous carcinoma [SQCC]-specific, p63, 5, desmocollin 3, Δnp63) quantitative analysis microRNA-205 (microRNA sample score [mRSS]). Background. Over the past ten years oncological outcomes achieved by local excision techniques (LETs) as sole treatment for early stages of rectal cancer (ESRC) have been often disappointing. The reasons these poor results lie mostly in high risk disease's diffusion to local-regional lymph nodes even ESRC. Aims. This study aims find correct indications LET ESRC taking into consideration clinical-pathological features tumours that may reduce node metastasis zero. Methods. Systematic...

Undetermined thyroid cytology precludes any definitive distinction between malignant and benign lesions. Recently several classifications have been proposed to split this category into two or more cytological subcategories related different malignancy risk rates. The current study was performed retrospectively investigate the results obtained separating "undetermined" cytologic reports categories: "follicular lesion" (FL) "atypia of undetermined significance" (AUS). Biochemical, clinical,...

Introduction . Despite initial enthusiasm, the use of transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) is still quite limited at present because expense highly specialized equipment and complexity learning curve. Furthermore, some authors report a relevant, although temporary, effect on anorectal function considerable anal dilatation which can even produce rupture internal sphincter. The “glove TEM” proposes itself as an alternative to traditional TEM that could settle these problems. Materials...

Background: To propose a trifecta that summarizes endpoints and predicts their maintenance after adrenalectomy (n = 90) for unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA). Methods: Trifecta was defined as coexistence of: ≥50% antihypertensive therapeutic intensity score reduction (∆TIS), no hypokalemia at 3 months, Clavien grade 2–5. Logistic regression used to identify predictors of trifecta. Probability clinical, biochemical, simultaneous success according were assessed by Kaplan–Meier. Cox...
