Abstract Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells ( BMSC s) are an expandable population of which can differentiate into osteoblasts, chondrocytes and adipocytes. Dysfunction s in response to pathological stimuli contributes bone diseases. Melatonin, a hormone secreted from pineal gland, has been proved be important mediator formation mineralization. The aim this study was investigate whether melatonin protected against iron overload‐induced dysfunction its underlying mechanisms. Here, we found...

Abstract Corneal disease is the second most common blinding in world. The shortage of cornea donors has become greatest challenge curing corneal disease. Decellularized porcine corneas have potential to be clinically applied as a substitute for human lamellar keratoplasty. Porcine will help relieve donor shortage. To comprehensively evaluate characteristics grafts and effect decellularized on host after clinical transplantation, we assessed microstructure transplanted tissues. Through...

The corneal endothelium (CE) is vital for the cornea to maintain its transparency. However, CE dysfunction occurs due aging, intraocular surgery, trauma, dystrophy, etc. Corneal transplantation only method clinically treat dysfunction; however, this treatment strategy faces disadvantages of a global shortage, graft failure, and severe side effects. There recognized need substitute CE. Stem cells are becoming increasingly common human diseases. In fact, several studies have documented...

A human corneal stroma induced pluripotent stem cell (HMUi001-A) line was created from primary cultured fibroblasts. Reprogramming performed using episomal vector delivery of OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, L-MYC and LIN28. Further characterization the HMUi001-A confirmed that pluripotent, free Epstein Barr viral genome, retained normal karyotype.

This scientific literature review demonstrates high prospects of recent developments in gene therapy for the treatment retinal diseases. First all it concerns inherited pathologies such as retinitis pigmentosa and Leber congenital amaurosis. Nevertheless is still quite far from its tangible application clinical practice other diseases, although preliminary trial outcomes use some them (for example, achromatopsia, X-linked retinoschisis) turn to be very promising. The data presented this...

3D model of the cornea in vitro: “Cornea-on-a-Chip”, simulating human eye and most accurately recreating complex local biophysiological processes body. Technologies used development process include microfluidics, sterolithography bioengineering. Such “Cornea-on-a-Chip” devices could be for biomedical research pharmacological testing drugs, potentially reducing need to use animals laboratory improving quality research.
