Neural crest cells (NCCs) are an embryonic migratory cell population with the ability to differentiate into a wide variety of types that contribute craniofacial skeleton, cornea, peripheral nervous system, and skin pigmentation. This suggests promising role NCCs as source for cell-based therapy. Although several methods have been used induce human (hNCCs) from pluripotent stem (hPSCs), such (ESCs) induced (iPSCs), further modifications required improve robustness, efficacy, simplicity these...

Muscle contusions are a common type of muscle injury and frequently encountered in athletes military personnel. Although these injuries capable healing most instances, incomplete functional recovery often occurs because the development fibrosis muscle. We hypothesized that combination platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection oral administration losartan (an antifibrotic agent) could enhance by stimulating regeneration angiogenesis preventing contusion-injured skeletal muscle.Contusion were...

Abnormal activation of endochondral bone formation in soft tissues causes significant medical diseases associated with disability and pain. Hyperactive mutations the morphogenetic protein (BMP) type 1 receptor ACVR1 lead to fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), a rare genetic disorder characterized by progressive ossification tissues. However, specific cellular mechanisms are unclear. In addition, difficulty obtaining tissue samples from FOP patients limitations mouse models hamper...

Posterior and posteroinferior capsules in the shoulder joints of throwing athletes have been reported to be thicker than nonthrowing shoulders, this has a relationship glenohumeral internal rotation deficit (GIRD). However, stiffness these thickened not reported. Shear-wave ultrasound elastography is new technology that can measure tissue elasticity quantitatively. The posterior are stiffer as well shoulders baseball players their shoulders. Successful in vitro disease-recapitulation using patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) requires two fundamental technical issues: appropriate control and robust differentiation protocols. To investigate fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), a rare genetic disease leading to extraskeletal bone formation through endochondral ossification, gene-corrected (rescued) iPSC clones (resFOP-iPSC) were generated from patient-derived (FOP-iPSC) as genetically matched controls,...

The effect of mild hyperthermia on a cultured rat malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) cell line, MFH-2NR, was investigated. MFH cells in log-phase (growing phase) were heated at 41°–44°C for 1 hr. Hyperthermic treatment 41°C did not substantially affect proliferation and 44°C caused necrosis. After hyperthermic 42° or 43°C, arrested morphological changes characteristic apoptosis, shrinkage accompanying apoptotic bodies chromatin condensation, became apparent. Hyperthermia-induced apoptosis...

Autologous nerve graft is the most commonly applied treatment for patients with peripheral defect, while application limited because of tissue availability and unfavorable donor site morbidity. To overcome this problem, regeneration using a conduit has been studied. Especially, biodegradable materials considered promising. Although aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) are benign tumours, they have the potential to be locally aggressive. Various treatment approaches, such as en bloc resection, open curettage, radiotherapy, sclerotherapy, and embolization been proposed, but most appropriate should selected after considering risk of tumour recurrence complications. Nine patients with enchondromas in the hand were treated by endoscopic curettage of tumour without bone grafting. The procedure was performed on an out-patient basis using axillary block anaesthesia. New formation and remodelling lesions observed all patients. There no postoperative fractures, infections, recurrences or other complications. Functional recovery rapid. We conclude that grafting is effective treatment enchondroma hand.
