A high-sensitivity surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor based on the Mach–Zehnder interferometer design is presented. The novel feature of new use a Wollaston prism through which phase quantities p and s polarizations are interrogated simultaneously. Since SPR affects only polarization, signal due to polarization can be used as reference. Consequently, differential between two allows us eliminate all common-path noise while keeping change caused by effect. Experimental results obtained...

Abstract Background Heterogeneity of immune gene expression patterns luminal breast cancer (BC), which is clinically heterogeneous and overall considered as low immunogenic, has not been well studied especially in non-European populations. Here, we aimed at characterizing the profile BC an Asian population associating it with patient characteristics tumor genomic features. Methods We performed profiling adjacent normal tissue 92 patients from Hong Kong using RNA-sequencing data used...

Phase detection has been utilized to enhance the sensitivity of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors for a long time. However, an inherent drawback phase sensitive SPR are their limited dynamic range, which greatly hindered wide applications such sensors. In this Letter, design combining and angular interrogation proposed provide sensor with both high range. As result, resolution 2.2×10−7 RIU range over 0.06 achieved simultaneously. An added advantage is flexibility adjustment.

As in all RNA viruses, influenza viruses change and mutate constantly because their polymerase has no proofreading ability. This poses a serious threat to public health nowadays. In addition, traditional pathogen-based detection methods may not be able report an infection from unknown type or subtype of virus if its nucleotide sequence is known. Because these factors, targeting host microRNA signatures alternative classify infections distinguish types pathogens as microRNAs are produced...

Objectives Accumulated evidence implies that night shift work may trigger liver dysfunction. Non-alcoholic fatty (NAFL) is suggested to be a necessary mediator in this process. This study aimed examine the relationship between and elevated level of alanine transaminase (e-ALT) workers investigate potential mediation effect NAFL. Methods included all male from baseline survey cohort workers. Information on demographics, lifestyle lifetime working schedule was collected by face-to-face...

We present a biosensor design based on capturing the two-dimenstional (2D) phase image of surface plasmon resonance (SPR). This 2D SPR imaging technique may enable parallel label-free detection multiple analytes and is compatible with microarray chip platform. system uses our previously reported differential measurement approach, in which maps obtained from signal (P) reference (S) polarizations are compared pixel by pixel. greatly improves resolution as subtraction step can eliminate...

What we believe to be a novel two-dimensional spectral surface plasmon resonance imaging technique determining pressure distribution in elastohydrodynamic lubricant films is presented. This makes use of the characteristics associated with (SPR) effect, and it provides more information refractive index mapping than conventional contrast SPR imaging. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a rapid (within an hour) and sensitive method to amplify DNA at one temperature. It has high potential be used as biosensor detect pathogens LAMP does not require thermal cycles DNA. On the other hand, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) highly optical system for label-free biomolecules detection. With these advantages, we tried combine SPR gene of Panton-Valentine leukocidin toxin (pvl) Methicillin-resistance S. aureus (MRSA). Our preliminary...
