The protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi almost invariably establishes life-long infections in humans and other mammals, despite the development of potent host immune responses that constrain parasite numbers. consistent, decades-long persistence T . human hosts arises at least part from remarkable level genetic diversity multiple families genes encoding primary target antigens anti-parasite responses. However, highly repetitive nature genome–largely a result these same extensive genes–have prevented...

Cryptosporidiosis is a leading cause of waterborne diarrheal disease globally and an important contributor to mortality in infants the immunosuppressed. Despite its importance, Cryptosporidium community has only had access good, but incomplete, parvum IOWA reference genome sequence. Incomplete sequences hamper annotation, experimental design, interpretation. We have generated new C. assembly supported by Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) Oxford Nanopore long-read technologies comparative...

Programmed death receptor-1 (PD-1) inhibitors have been approved as second-line treatment regimen in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but it is still worth studying whether patients can benefit from PD-1 first-line drugs combined with targeted and locoregional therapy. To estimate the clinical outcome of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) lenvatinib plus for unresectable HCC (uHCC).We carried out retrospective research 65 uHCC who were treated at Peking Union Medical College Hospital...

Animal experiments indicate that repeated exposure to ketamine adversely affects the developing brain. Whether it has same effect on infants remains unclear. We recruited who were scheduled for 1 3 outpatient laser surgery treatments of benign facial growths with anesthesia. Patients assigned Ket(1), Ket(2), or Ket(3) group, according number treatments. The Bayley Scales Infant Development-Second Edition (BSID-II) was used assess neurodevelopmental outcomes before first and after last...

As a hallmark of chronic kidney disease (CKD), arterial stiffening is related to increased vascular inflammation and cardiovascular morbidity, whereas the underlying mechanism unclear. The study demonstrates that stiffness precedes onset inflammation, matrix stimulates transdifferentiation smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) an inflammatory phenotype via activating Runx2-NLRP3 signaling, which provides novel insights into CKD-related disorder treatment.

Abstract Once considered rare in eukaryotes, polycistronic mRNA expression has been identified kinetoplastids and, more recently, green algae, red and certain fungi. This study provides comprehensive evidence supporting the existence of apicomplexan parasite Cryptosporidium parvum . Leveraging long-read RNA-seq data from different strains using multiple technologies, we demonstrate defined transcripts containing 2-4 protein encoding genes, several validated with RT-PCR. Some polycistrons...

Abstract Cephalopods such as squids, octopuses, and cuttlefishes can change their bodies’ color to match the surrounding environments by contracting or expanding sac just below surface of skin. Inspired this mechanism, artificial cephalopod chromatophores which are prepared thermoresponsive poly( N ‐isopropyl acrylamide)‐based hydrogel films embedded with black, red, yellow pigments presented, they swell shrink under temperature stimuli, like natural chromatophores. The cuttlefish ink...

Abstract Background A key challenge in the medical field is managing gallbladder polyps (GBP) > 10 mm, especially when their nature uncertain. GBP with a diameter exceeding mm are associated an increased risk of cancer, making to management differentiation between benign and malignant types. The current practice, due inability predict accurately, leads excessive surgeries ineffective follow-ups, increasing patient risks burdens. Purpose This study aims establish imaging radiomics model...

Cryptosporidium is a protist parasite that has been identified as the second leading cause of moderate to severe diarrhea in children younger than two and significant mortality worldwide. complex, obligate, intracellular but extra cytoplasmic lifecycle single host. How genes are regulated this remains largely unknown. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical regulatory roles, including gene expression across broad range organisms. lncRNAs have reported enter host cell nucleus affect...

Clinical reports of multiple primary malignant tumors (MPMTs) in the digestive system are increasing. In China, although survival rate patients with MPMTs is increasing, quality life very low. Many have reached advanced stage when second tumor found, resulting no early intervention and treatment. This due to misunderstanding by clinicians, who treat such as metastases. Therefore, before a patient has tumor, doctors should understand some common combinations provide clinical guidance...
