Modern experiments at isotope separator on-line (ISOL) facilities like ISAC TRIUMF often depend critically on the purity of delivered rare beams. Therefore, highly selective ion sources are essential. This article presents development and successful operation an guide laser source (IG-LIS) for production beams free isobaric contamination. Thermionic ions from hot ISOL target suppressed by electrostatic potential barrier, while neutral radio nuclides effusing out resonantly ionized radiation...
NeuLAND (New Large-Area Neutron Detector) is the next-generation neutron detector for R3B (Reactions with Relativistic Radioactive Beams) experiment at FAIR (Facility Antiproton and Ion Research). detects neutrons energies from 100 to 1000 MeV, featuring a high detection efficiency, spatial time resolution, large multi-neutron reconstruction efficiency. This achieved by highly granular design of organic scintillators: 3000 individual submodules size 5 × 250 cm3 are arranged in 30 double...
Using the Penning trap mass spectrometer TITAN, we performed first direct measurements of $^{20,21}\mathrm{Mg}$, isotopes that are most proton-rich members $A=20$ and $A=21$ isospin multiplets. These were possible through use a unique ion-guide laser ion source, development suppressed isobaric contamination by 6 orders magnitude. Compared to latest atomic evaluation, find $^{21}\mathrm{Mg}$ is in good agreement but $^{20}\mathrm{Mg}$ deviates $3\ensuremath{\sigma}$. reduce uncertainties...
At the ISAC facility at TRIUMF radioactive ions are produced by bombarding solid targets with up to 100 μA of 500 MeV protons. The reaction products have diffuse out hot target into an ion source. Normally, singly charged extracted. They can be transported either directly experiments or via ECR charge state breeder a post accelerator. Several different types sources used in order deliver large variety rare isotope beams. those surface sources, forced electron beam arc discharge (FEBIAD) and...
Direct lifetime measurements via $\ensuremath{\gamma}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ coincidences using a fast timing detector array consisting of ${\mathrm{LaBr}}_{3}(\mathrm{Ce})$ scintillators has been applied to determine the low-lying states in semimagic $(N=50)$ nucleus $^{94}\mathrm{Ru}$. The experiment was carried out as first series ``FAIR-0'' experiments with DESPEC experimental setup at Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). Excited $^{94}\mathrm{Ru}$ were...

A new decay station has been built for the ISAC facility at TRIUMF rapid and reliable characterization of radioactive ion beam (RIB) compositions intensities with capability simultaneously collecting α, β, γ data from RIB between a few ≈10(11) ions per second. It features user-friendly control, acquisition, analysis software. The individual time structures allows unambiguous assignment α lines even substantial isobaric contamination present. accurate half-life measurements is demonstrated...
Rydberg levels in the atomic spectrum of element polonium (Po, Z = 84) were investigated using two-step laser resonance ionization spectroscopy order to probe and determine first potential with high accuracy. As has no stable isotopes, was carried out in-source at Isotope Separator On-Line (ISOL) facility where radioisotope 206Po detected after mass separation. Evaluating convergence observed series results a EIP(Po) 8.418072(3)stat(15)systeV more than 100 new even-parity states belonging 5...
With the rise of neutrino astronomy using large-volume detector arrays, calibration improvements optical media and photosensors have emerged as significant means to reduce systematics. To improve understanding volume its instrumentation, we developed an absolutely-calibrated, self-monitoring, isotropic, nanosecond, high-intensity light source called "Precision Optical Calibration Module" (POCAM). This, now third iteration, instrument was for application in IceCube Upgrade but, with a modular...

If the mass excess of neutron-deficient nuclei and their neutron-rich mirror partners are both known, it can be shown that deviations Isobaric Mass Multiplet Equation (IMME) in form a cubic term probed. Such was probed by using atomic magnesium isotopes measured TITAN Penning trap recently proton-separation energies $^{29}$Cl $^{30}$Ar.
