The dominant forcing mechanism for particle manipulation using SSAW is shown to be spatially dependent when travelling components are considered.
The nature of b-quark jet hadronisation has been investigated using data taken at the Z peak by DELPHI detector LEP. Two complementary methods are used to reconstruct energy weakly decaying b-hadrons, $E_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{weak}}$ . average value $x^{\mathrm{weak}}_{\mathrm{B}} = E_{\mathrm{B}}^{\mathrm{weak}}/E_{\mathrm{beam}}$ is measured be 0.699±0.011. resulting $x^{\mathrm{weak}}_{\mathrm{B}}$ distribution then analysed in framework two choices for perturbative contribution (parton...
We present five distinct mechanisms arising from the incidence of a finite-width surface acoustic waves (SAW) beam propagating into quiescent fluid.
This paper presents investigations into the eddy current losses of laminated electrical steel cores as implemented in electric motors, that were manufactured by applying various stacking processes. The application interlocking and welding processes create an connection initially insulated laminations therefore lead to additional losses. considers impact on a ring core test sample. For identification characteristics within stack for determination losses, finite element method simulation,...
A search for pair-produced doubly charged Higgs bosons has been performed using the data collected by DELPHI detector at LEP centre-of-mass energies between 189 and 209 GeV. No excess is observed in with respect to Standard Model background. lower limit mass of 97.3 GeV/c2 95% confidence level set left–right symmetric models any value Yukawa coupling τ leptons.
This paper presents a new approach to train running time control in order achieve energy cost reductions. Given an optimal combination of headways and synchronization time, it is sufficient apply controller based on the minimization single train's using dynamic Programming. When these conditions can not be met, modification times contribute significantly reducing power peaks consumption thereby costs rail transit systems.
This paper presents a new approach to fulfill conflicting goals of dynamic schedule synchronization and energy saving in rapid rail transit systems. For public transport operators, passenger transfers between mass systems road-bound means are unavoidable ensure efficient operation. But for passengers transfering different modes transport, it can be major annoyance when connections missed. work aims propose an algorithm the modification train running times such way that probability getting...
We present a simple method to derive planar, instantaneous body force distribution from given two-dimensional velocity field without knowledge of the pressure field, under specific restriction that is dominated by one component only. Spatial integration then completely recovers this component. Particle image velocimetry and direct numerical simulations wall jet induced known were conducted validate method, demonstrating good agreement original reconstructed fields.
This study gives an overview on applications of speed optimisation as one control measure for intelligent traffic management in rail‐bound public transportation systems. The concept operational target points and windows is introduced. Speed dwell time are used to reach these targets, thereby improve throughput through system‐related bottlenecks reduce energy consumption. Different systems compared requirements the application derived. Case studies three different passenger presented that...
For train positioning purposes, modern control systems usually use a mix of on-board sensors providing relative measurements (like odometer) and infrastructure equipment (such as balises) for absolute positioning. In order to overcome the disadvantages fixed installations along track, modular system based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is being developed in German national research project PiLoNav. receivers provide information, whenever satellite signals are available. The...
Direct numerical simulations of flows in cylinders subjected to both rapid rotation and axial precession are presented analysed the context a stability theory based on triadic resonance Kelvin modes. For case that was chosen provide finely tuned resonant instability with small nutation angle, good agreement previous experiments terms mode shapes dynamics, including long-time-scale regularization flow recurrent collapses. Cases not most unstable triad, but angle still small, also quite...
Single photons detected by the DELPHI experiment at LEP2 in years 1997–2000 are reanalysed to investigate existence of a single extra dimension modified ADD scenario with slightly warped large dimensions. The data collected centre-of-mass energies between 180 and 209 GeV for an integrated luminosity ∼650 pb−1 agree predictions Standard Model allow limit be set on graviton emission one dimension. obtained fundamental mass scale M D is 1.69 TeV/c 2 95% CL, expected 1.71 2.
