Chromosome numbers were determined in 29 accessions of wild and semidomesticated Capsicum species from the EMBRAPA Hortaliças (Brazil) germplasm collection. 2n = 24 was found C. baccatum var. praetermissum, chinense, flexuosum parvifolium, while buforum, campylopodium, cornutum, schottianum, villosum five other native south-eastern Brazilian not yet taxonomically named all had 26 chromosomes. These are first chromosome number determinations for taxa. Our data confirm published but buforum....
Chromosome numbers are reported for 127 germplasm accessions of Paspalum notatum maintained by EMBRAPA (Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária) in two research centers Brazil. Most were collected their natural habitats Southern Tetraploidy (2n = 40 chromosomes) was predominant (91% the studied), confirming previous reports species. Eleven with 2n 20 chromosomes, although wild, possibly derived from 'Pensacola' bahiagrass, commonly cultivated area since its introduction United States...

Chromosome numbers were counted in 126 new accessions of 50 Paspalum species from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. The chromosome 2n=12, 20, 24, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 confirmed. for P. arenarium (2n=20), barretoi aff. ceresia (2n=40), corcovadense crispulum flaccidum nummularium scalare vescum (2n=20) rectum a diploid cytotype malacophyllum are reported the first time. predominance tetraploid (43.6%) was confirmed, but an unusually high number (44%) (35.7%) found. These results open...
Abstract The characterization of genetic resources is essential to carry out a breeding program. This study aimed characterize Paspalum genotypes with potential use as soil surface covering support programs on the development turf cultivars. Forty‐three genotypes, comprising 11 species, were evaluated. embryo‐sacs structure was determined by cleared ovaries analysis and eight accessions classified sexual, 15 apomictic, 20 presenting facultative apomixis. Most have 40 chromosomes, exception...
Meiotic behavior was analysed in 30 accessions of 12 wild (Capsicum flexuosum, C. parvifolium, buforum, campylopodium, cornutum, pereirae, friburgense, schottianum, villosum var. villosum, and 3 new species) 2 semi-domesticated (C. baccatum L. var praetermissum chinense) Brazilian Capsicum species. This is the first report on meiosis for most these taxa. Except praetermissum, chinense, flexuosum with 2n=24 chromosomes, all other taxa had 2n=26 a number previously considered as not common...

Somatic chromosome numbers were determined for 20 new germplasm accessions of Paspalum, belonging to 17 species collected in Brazil.Chromosome number is reported the first time P. reduncum (2n = 18), cinerascens 20), cordatum filgueirasii 24), ammodes 36), bicilium 40), heterotrichon and burmanii 48).New cytotypes confirmed two carinatum 30) trachycoleon one clavuliferum 40) lanciflorum indicating variability these species. The remaining here confirm previous counts. The unexpected 2n 18, 24,...
Somatic chromosome numbers are reported for thirty four germplasm accessions of Paspalum, Caespitosa group, representing five different species. All species have shown x=10 as the basic number. The diploid 2n=20 number was confirmed P. chacoense and indecorum, well sexuality latter. This is first report cytological behavior ligulare (2n=20 40), pleostachyum (2n=20, 30 40) redondense 40). present results document regular meiosis in accessions, with primarily bivalent pairing at diakinesis...
Paspalum cerradoense R.C. Oliveira & Valls, a new species from the “Chapada dos Veadeiros” region, in Cerrado biome, Brazil, is here described and illustrated. It included informal Notata group of Paspalum, because inflorescences with two distal conjugated racemes. The has chromosome number 2n=20, which agreement basic other group. As there are similarities between cerradoense, P. cromyorhizon, ionanthum, morphological anatomical characters these three compared. There at least 30...
Abstract This study investigated the agronomic, nutritive value, cytogenetic, molecular, and reproductive aspects of twenty‐five Paspalum accessions to support breeding programs. The agronomic value were evaluated in a randomized block experimental design with four replications, monthly repeated measures for 2 years. For molecular characterization 16 microsatellite markers developed different species previous works used. number chromosomes was determined by visualizing meiotic cells DNA...
This paper compiles results of chromosome counts Paspalum hydrophilum, P. modestum and palustre. Four Brazilian accessions have shown 2n = 2x 20 chromosomes, a number already found in one accession from Argentina two Brazil. Three other showed tetraploid level (2n 4x 40), which was previously unknown this species. In only the analyzed presented level, initially established for species plants collected Argentina. Five additional Brazil diploid number, detected single population. A cytotype...
