Patients with obesity are at increased risk for developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Some centers consider a relative contraindication to receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support, despite growing implementation of ECMO ARDS in the general population.

Currently, despite continued issues with durability ( 1), biological prosthetic valves are increasingly chosen over mechanical for surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in adult patients of all ages, at least Western countries. For younger patients, this choice means assuming the risks associated a redo SAVR or valve-in-valve procedure. To assess use vs. prostheses relative to patient's age and implant time large population extracted from French National Database EPICARD.Patients EPICARD...

Bowel ischemia is a life-threatening emergency defined as an inadequate vascular perfusion leading to bowel inflammation resulting from impaired colonic/small blood supply. Main issue for physicians regarding diagnosis lies in the absence of informative and specific clinical or biological signs delayed management, poorer prognosis, especially after cardiac surgery. The aim present series was propose simple scoring system based on data ischemia. In retrospective monocentric study, patients...

Background: The effectiveness of additional stenting the distal aorta as compared to conventional surgery alone in type A aortic dissection (TAD) has yet be proven. Methods: We conducted this multicenter comparative study evaluate effects antegrade bare dissected beyond anastomosis with a Djumbodis® device system (DDS). Outcomes that were measured included early outcomes, overall mortality from cause and late events including re-interventions. consecutive series 134 patients operated on two...

Objective The optimal management of deep sternal wound infection (DWSI) remains controversial. Our objective was to evaluate outcomes patients with DSWI managed transposition laparoscopically harvested omentum (LHO). Methods Between 2000 and 2020, a total 38,623 adult who underwent full median sternotomy for cardiac surgery were analyzed retrospectively at our institution. occurred in 455 (1.2%), whom 364 (93.2%) pectoralis myocutaneous flap (PMF) 33 (7.2%) LHO. Anomalous origin of the left main coronary artery from right sinus is rarely diagnosed in elderly patients. We report such an anomaly a 75-year-old lady presenting with chest pain and syncope. Preoperative screening revealed that her aortic valve was moderately stenotic. The patient underwent successful unroofing procedure combined replacement. outcome uncomplicated remained asymptomatic at one year postoperatively.

Abstract Infections of frozen elephant trunk hybrid prosthesis (HP) are not well documented in the literature and their management is standardized yet. We report herein case a 59-year-old patient who benefited from Thoraflex™ HP aortic arch replacement for an acute type A dissection. He presented year later with Staphylococcus aureus infection proximal part this prosthesis. performed compound accompanied by complete debranching 3 supra-aortic vessels inter-carotidal retro-oesophageal bypass....

•Endocarditis of the tricuspid valve.•Qfever.•Surgery. A 71-year-old man received a cardiac defibrilator (CD) implant following an anterior Myocardial Infarction (MI). Two years later echocardiograph showed large mass measuring 7 × 2 cm appended to DAI probe, close valve. Anticoagulation was started but did not decrease. All blood cultures were negative. Nevertheless, probabilistic antibiotherapy started. The patient operated on through median sternotomy and removed under cardiopulmonary...
