Diastolic late mitral annular velocity (a') measured by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is reported to represent left atrial (LA) pump function and the severity of LA remodelling. The purpose this study investigate association between a' blood stasis in patients with non-valvular paroxysmal fibrillation. We enrolled 138 consecutive fibrillation who had spontaneous sinus rhythm at time echocardiography. Using TTE, was determined as an average tissue Doppler velocities septal lateral...

Central nervous system (CNS) relapse is a critical issue while treating Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph-positive ALL). A 58-year-old woman with Ph-positive ALL who relapsed after bone marrow transplantation for meningeal was treated high-dose methotrexate, which resulted in remission. She underwent allogeneic cord blood followed by reduced intensity conditioning chemotherapy imatinib; however, she experienced CNS and developed an extramedullary mass on the...

Prolonged exposure to excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) increases risk factors for many diseases. Therefore, elimination of ROS as well prevention its production becomes critically important. In the present study, we evaluated levels cytotoxicity and scavenging activity induced by synthetic platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs).Average size synthesized PtNPs was 2.2 nm.Synthetic were found scavenge both endogenous H 2 O significantly in L6 rat skeletal muscle cells at a very low concentration...

Myxoid liposarcoma, a rare type of tumor, accounts for approximately 30% all liposarcomas. liposarcomas harboring the FUS/CHOP fusion gene have shown promising results with trabectedin in basic research and some clinical experiments. However, efficacy safety chemotherapy-naive soft tissue sarcomas or gene-positive myxoid not yet been established. Therefore, we evaluated effectiveness monotherapy four cases liposarcoma at our hospital.

Flow cytometric test for analyzing the eosin-5-maleimide (EMA) binding to red blood cells has been believed be a specific method diagnosing hereditary spherocytosis (HS). However, it reported that diseases other than HS, such as pyropoikilocytosis (HPP) and Southeast Asian ovalocytosis (SAO), which are forms in category of elliptocytosis (HE), show decreased EMA cells. We analyzed 101 healthy control subjects 42 HS patients obtained mean channel fluorescence (MCF) cut-off value 36.4...

A 74-year-old man was treated with ceftriaxone for 5 days and subsequently experienced epigastric pain. Computed tomography (CT) performed 7 3 before epigastralgia. Although the first CT image revealed no radiographic signs in his biliary system, second dense radiopaque material gallbladder lumen. The third image, taken at symptom onset, showed high density common bile duct enlargement of pancreatic head. This is a very rare case pseudolithiasis involving duct, as captured on series images.
