To investigate the dynamic association among binding and functional antibodies in health-care-workers receiving two doses of BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19-vaccine, SARS-CoV-2 anti-RBD IgG, anti-Trimeric-S neutralizing (Nabs) were measured serum samples collected at 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months from full vaccination. Despite high correlation, results for anti-Trimeric S IgG numerically different even after recalculation to BAU/mL following WHO standards indications. Moreover, a peak response levels...

Mpox, caused by the Monkeypox virus (MPV), is a global public health threat. Virus isolation gold standard to confirm MPV infection, but this process can face many challenges. As an alternative, new method was developed in vitro settings using 50 µM of propidium monoazide (PMAxx, DNA-binding agent) coupled with digital droplet PCR (ddPCR). Frozen clinical samples analyzed PMAxx-ddPCR had median 0.8 copies/µL, while untreated 29.8 copies/µL. Since substantial percentage reduction observed...

The mpox virus (MPXV) Clade IIb outbreak in 2022 was the biggest one ever to occur outside Africa, causing different types of clinical symptoms and levels disease severity. There is no currently approved treatment for mpox, but Tecovirimat has proven effective against known orthopoxviruses several animal models Vero cell cultures. Since serious complications, including lung involvement, have been reported, especially immunocompromised people, we investigated effects MPXV infection on vitro...

Although evidence exists on the potential involvement of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in pathogenesis several viral infections, expression levels, and exact role that hsa_circ_0006459 hsa_circ_0015962 could play during Dengue virus (DENV) infection are still unclear. These two circRNAs were identified as possible biomarkers for diagnosis prognosis DENV disease peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) Dengue-positive patients. Abstract Objectives Compared to RT-PCR, lower performance of antigen detection assays, including the Lumipulse G SARS-CoV-2 Ag assay, may depend on specific testing scenarios. Methods We tested 594 nasopharyngeal swab samples from individuals with COVID-19 (RT-PCR cycle threshold [Ct] values ≤ 40) or non-COVID-19 (Ct >40) diagnoses. RT-PCR positive were assigned diagnostic, screening, monitoring groups testing. Results With a limit 1.2 × 10 4 RNA copies/mL, showed percent agreement (PPA)...

Abstract Since August 2023, outbreaks of dengue virus (DENV) infection have occurred in Italy. We report 2 autochthonous case-patients and their extended follow-up. Despite persistent DENV detected blood by PCR, results for antigenomic RNA were negative after day 5, suggesting that a 5-day isolation period is adequate to avoid secondary cases.
