Inflammation triggers secondary brain damage after stroke. The meninges and other CNS border compartments serve as invasion sites for leukocyte influx into the thus promoting tissue However, post-ischemic immune response of compared to parenchyma remains poorly characterized. Here, we deeply characterize tissue-resident leukocytes in discover that respond differently stroke depending on their site residence. We thereby a unique phenotype myeloid cells exclusive These stroke-associated...

Peripheral nerves contain axons and their enwrapping glia cells named Schwann (SCs) that are either myelinating (mySCs) or nonmyelinating (nmSCs). Our understanding of other in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) remains limited. Here, we provide an unbiased single cell transcriptomic characterization nondiseased rodent PNS. We identified independently confirmed markers previously underappreciated nmSCs nerve-associated fibroblasts. also found characterized two distinct populations...

Despite the high incidence of male infertility, only 30% infertile men receive a causative diagnosis. To explore regulatory mechanisms governing human germ cell function in normal and impaired spermatogenesis (crypto), we performed single-cell RNA sequencing (>30,000 cells). We find major alterations crypto spermatogonial compartment with increased numbers most undifferentiated spermatogonia (PIWIL4+). also observe transcriptional switch within driven by prolonged expression transcription...

In the past 37 years, human immunodeficiency virus/acquired syndrome (HIV/AIDS) has undergone various major transmission routes in China, with world most complex co-circulating HIV-1 subtypes, even prevalence is still low. response to first epidemic outbreak of HIV injecting drug users and second one by illegal commercial blood collection, China issued Anti-Drug Law launched Blood Donation Act nationwide nucleic acid testing, which avoided 98,232 211,200 estimated infections almost ended...

It has been reported that the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway plays a key role in pathogenesis of ischemic stroke. As result, development drugs targeting attracted increasing attention from researchers. This article reviews pathological mechanisms and advancements research related to pathways stroke, with focus on pathway. The findings include following: (1) complex stroke can be categorized into five major types: excitatory amino acid toxicity, Ca 2+ overload, inflammatory response, oxidative...

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) plays an important role in the carcinogenesis and progression of gastric cancer. It has been demonstrated that COX-2 overexpression depends on different cellular pathways, involving both transcriptional post-transcriptional regulation. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, noncoding RNAs function as regulators. Here, we characterize miR-101 expression its regulation expression, which turn, will provide us with additional insights into potential therapeutic benefits exogenous...

Abstract Exosomes have been suggested as promising targets for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, including schizophrenia (SCZ), but potential role exosome-derived metabolites in these diseases was rarely studied. Using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, we performed first metabolomic study serum-derived exosomes from patients with SCZ. Our sample comprised 385 332 healthy controls recruited 3 clinical centers 4 independent cohorts. We...

Agricultural practices affect soil microbes which are critical to health and sustainable agriculture. To understand prokaryotic fungal assembly under agricultural practices, we use machine learning-based methods. We show that fertility source is the most pronounced factor for microbial especially fungi, its effect decreases with depths. Fertility also shapes co-occurrence patterns revealed by learning, leading fungi-dominated modules sensitive down 30 cm depth. Tillage affects microbiomes at...
