Serum creatinine is the most commonly used marker for estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR). To compensate its drawbacks as a GFR marker, several prediction equations including parameters are being used, with Modification Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD), Schwartz, and Counahan-Barratt ones widely accepted relative mL x min(-1) (1.73 m(2))(-1). The present study analyzes whether these adults children might be replaced by simple based on plasma concentrations cystatin C.Data from 536...

Many different cystatin C-based equations exist for estimating glomerular filtration rate. Major reasons this are the previous lack of an international C calibrator and nonequivalence results from assays.Use recently introduced certified reference material, ERM-DA471/IFCC, further work to achieve high agreement equivalence 7 commercially available assays allowed a substantial decrease CV assays, as defined by their performance in external quality assessment clinical laboratory...

Poor mental health is a major issue worldwide and causality complex. For diseases with multifactorial background synergistic effects of person- place- factors can potentially be preventive. The Chronic Kidney Disease in Children Study (CKiD) equation for children and the Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) adults are recommended serum creatinine (SCr)-based calculations estimating glomerular filtration rate (GFR). However, these equations, as well their combination, have limitations, notably problem of implausible changes GFR during transition from adolescence to adulthood overestimation young adults. full age spectrum (FAS) addresses issues but overestimates when SCr levels...

The need for a mobile workforce inevitably means that the length of total work day (working and traveling time) will increase, but health effects commuting have been surprisingly little studied apart from perceived stress benefits physically active commuting. We used data two cross-sectional population-based public surveys performed in 2004 2008 Scania, Sweden (56% response rate). final study population was 21, 088 persons aged 18-65, working > 30 h/week. A reliable assessment of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is paramount importance in clinical practice as well epidemiological and research settings. It recommended by Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes guidelines specific populations (anorectic, cirrhotic, obese, renal non-renal transplant patients) where estimation equations are unreliable. Measured GFR the only valuable test to confirm or confute status chronic kidney disease (CKD), evaluate slope function decay over time, assess...

While there is general agreement on the necessity to measure glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in many clinical situations, less best method achieve this purpose. As gold standard for GFR determination, urinary (or renal) clearance of inulin, fades into background due inconvenience and high cost, a diversity markers protocols compete replace it. In review, we suggest that iohexol, non-ionic contrast agent, most suited inulin as marker choice determination. Iohexol comes very close fulfilling...

The accuracy of estimation kidney function with the use routine metabolic tests, such as measurement serum creatinine level, has been controversial. European Kidney Function Consortium (EKFC) developed a creatinine-based equation (EKFC eGFRcr) to estimate glomerular filtration rate (GFR) rescaled level (i.e., is divided by median among healthy persons control for variation related differences in age, sex, or race). Whether cystatin C-based EKFC would increase estimated GFR unknown. We used...

Risk disease from Omicron was markedly lower among vaccinated cases. It also unvaccinated but remained high (> 5%) older people middle-aged men with or more comorbidities. Background: The performance of creatinine-based glomerular filtration rate (GFR) estimating equations may vary in subgroups defined by GFR, age and body mass index (BMI). This study compares the Modification Diet Renal Disease (MDRD) Chronic Kidney Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) with revised Lund-Malmö equation (LM Revised), a new that can be expected to handle changes GFR across life span more accurately.
