We report on a new analysis of neutrino oscillations in MINOS using the complete set accelerator and atmospheric data. The combines $\nu_{\mu}$ disappearance $\nu_{e}$ appearance data three-flavor formalism. measure $|\Delta m^{2}_{32}|=[2.28-2.46]\times10^{-3}\mbox{\,eV}^{2}$ (68% C.L.) $\sin^{2}\theta_{23}=0.35-0.65$ (90% normal hierarchy, m^{2}_{32}|=[2.32-2.53]\times10^{-3}\mbox{\,eV}^{2}$ $\sin^{2}\theta_{23}=0.34-0.67$ inverted hierarchy. also constrain $\delta_{CP}$, $\theta_{23}$...
We present a measurement of neutrino tridents, muon pairs induced by scattering in the Coulomb field target nucleus, Columbia-Chicago-Fermilab-Rochester experiment at Fermilab Tevatron. The observed number tridents after geometric and kinematic corrections, 37.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}12.4, supports standard-model prediction 45.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.3 events. This is first demonstration W-Z destructive interference from rules out, 99% C.L., V-A without interference.
We present an improved determination of the proton structure functions ${F}_{2}$ and ${\mathrm{xF}}_{3}$ from Columbia-Chicago-Fermilab-Rochester Collaboration $\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{Fe}$ deep inelastic scattering experiment. Comparisons to corrected high-statistics charged-lepton results for NMC, E665, SLAC, BCDMS experiments indicate good agreement $x>0.1$ but some discrepancy at lower $x$. The ${Q}^{2}$ evolution both yields a value strong coupling constant scale mass $Z$...
A high-statistics study by the Columbia-Chicago-Fermilab-Rochester Collaboration of opposite-sign dimuon events induced neutrino-nucleon scattering at Fermilab Tevatron is presented. sample 5044 νμ and 1062 ν¯μ μ∓μ± with Pμ1≥9 GeV/c, Pμ2≥5 30≤Eν≤600 GeV, 〈Q2〉=22.2 GeV2/c2 observed. The data support slow-rescaling model charm production a value mc=1.31±0.24 GeV2/c2. first measurement Q2 dependence nucleon strange quark distribution xs(x) yield Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element...
This Letter reports the first direct observation of muon antineutrino disappearance. The MINOS experiment has taken data with an accelerator beam optimized for ν(μ) production, accumulating exposure 1.71 × 10²⁰ protons on target. In Far Detector, 97 charged current events are observed. no-oscillation hypothesis predicts 156 and is excluded at 6.3σ. best fit to oscillation yields |Δm²| = [3.36(-0.40)(+0.46)(stat) ± 0.06(syst)] 10⁻³ eV², sin²(2θ) 0.86(-0.12)(+0.11)(stat) 0.01(syst)....
We report an improved measurement of ν(μ) disappearance over a distance 735 km using the MINOS detectors and Fermilab Main Injector neutrino beam in ν(μ)-enhanced configuration. From total exposure 2.95×10(20) protons on target, which 42% have not been previously analyzed, we make most precise Δm2=[2.62(-0.28)(+0.31)(stat)±0.09(syst)]×10(-3) eV2 constrain mixing angle sin2(2θ)>0.75 (90% C.L.). These values are agreement with Δm2 sin2(2θ) measured for ν(μ), removing tension reported [P....

The CCFR Collaboration presents a measurement of scaling violations the nonsinglet structure function and comparison to predictions perturbative QCD. value ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathrm{QCD}}$, from evolution with ${\mathit{Q}}^{2}$>15 ${\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$ in modified minimal-subtraction renormalization scheme, is found be 210\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}28(stat)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}41(syst) MeV.
Abstract Many models claim to predict outcomes with good accuracy. However, not many seem be adopted in practice. This could because most of them do have sufficient predictive We analyzed 20 recently published papers on prediction and found that use inadequate measures assess performance. These primarily include the area under ROC curve (C-index) discrimination predictivity, too accepting a relatively low value, using aggregate concordance for assessing accuracy instead individual-based...
We extract a set of values for the Gross--Llewellyn Smith sum rule at different 4-momentum transfer squared ( ${Q}^{2}$), by combining revised CCFR neutrino data with from other deep-inelastic scattering experiments $1<{Q}^{2}<15{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}{/c}^{2}$. A comparison order ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}^{3}$ theoretical predictions yields determination ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}$ scale $Z$-boson mass $0.114{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}_{0.012}^{0.009}$. This measurement provides new and...

A sample of $1.53\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{9}$ cosmic-ray-induced single muon events has been recorded at 225 m water equivalent using the MINOS near detector. Following a major shortage of 99Mo in the 2009–2010 period, concern grew that aging reactor production facilities needed to be replaced. Most producers were using highly enriched 235U (HEU) as target material. The Organisation for Economic Co-...Read More
We report the first observation of seasonal modulations in rates cosmic ray multiple-muon events at two underground sites, MINOS Near Detector with an overburden 225 mwe, and Far site 2100 mwe. At deeper site, muons separated by more than 8 m exhibit a rate that peaks during summer, similar to single-muon events. In contrast unexpectedly, less 5--8 m, smaller, shallower Detector, modulation winter.
Long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments offer a unique laboratory to test the fundamental Lorentz symmetry, which is at heart of both standard model particle and general relativity theory. The sidereal modulation in events will act as smoking-gun experimental signature <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><a:mrow><a:mi>C</a:mi><a:mi>P</a:mi><a:mi>T</a:mi></a:mrow></a:math> violation. We report new constraints on the size of large extra dimensions from data collected by MINOS experiment between 2005 and 2012. Our analysis employs a model in which sterile neutrinos arise as Kaluza-Klein states thus modify neutrino oscillation probabilities due to mixing active states. Using Fermilab's NuMI beam exposure $10.56 \times 10^{20}$ protons-on-target, we combine muon charged current neutral sets Near Far Detectors observe no evidence for deviations standard three-flavor...

We report a precise measurement of the weak mixing angle from ratio neutral current to charged inclusive cross sections in deep-inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering. The data were gathered at CCFR neutrino detector Fermilab quadrupole-triplet beam, with energies up 600 GeV.
