Abstract Endomucin is a membrane-bound glycoprotein expressed luminally by endothelial cells that line postcapillary venules, primary site of leukocyte recruitment during inflammation. Here we show endomucin abrogation on quiescent enables neutrophils to adhere firmly, via LFA-1-mediated binding ICAM-1 constitutively cells. Moreover, TNF-α stimulation downregulates cell surface expression concurrent with increased adhesion molecules. Adenovirus-mediated under inflammatory conditions prevents...

Angiogenesis is central to both normal and pathologic processes. Endothelial cells (ECs) express O-glycoproteins that are believed play important roles in vascular development stability. Endomucin-1 (EMCN) a type I O-glycosylated, sialic-rich glycoprotein, specifically expressed by venous capillary endothelium. Evidence has pointed potential role for EMCN angiogenesis but it had not been directly investigated. In this study, we examined the of modulating levels vivo vitro. Reduction led...

Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is a potent inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth (VEGF)-induced permeability. The goal this study was to understand the mechanism by which PEDF blocks VEGF-induced increases in permeability. The paracellular permeability bovine retinal (BRE) cells measured assaying transendothelial cell electrical resistance and tracer flux. Western blot analysis used show phosphorylation VEGFR2, MAP kinases, glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3)-beta. Confocal imaging...

Angiogenic sprouting is a critical process involved in vascular network formation within tissues. During sprouting, tip cells and ensuing stalk migrate collectively into the extracellular matrix while preserving cell–cell junctions, forming patent structures that support blood flow. Although several signaling pathways have been identified as controlling it remains unclear to what extent this mechanoregulated. To address question, we investigated role of cellular contractility sprout...

Diabetes-induced breakdown of the blood-retinal barrier (BRB) has been linked to hyperglycemia-induced expression vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and is likely mediated by an increase in oxidative stress. We have shown that VEGF increases permeability retinal cells (REC) inducing urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR). The purpose this study was define role superoxide anion VEGF/uPAR BRB diabetes. Studies were performed streptozotocin diabetic rats mice high glucose (HG)...

Contact between inflammatory cells and endothelial (ECs) is a crucial step in vascular inflammation. Recently, we demonstrated that the cell-surface level of endomucin (EMCN), heavily O-glycosylated single-transmembrane sialomucin, interferes with interactions ECs. We have also shown that, response to an stimulus, EMCN cleared from cell surface by unknown mechanism. In this study, using adenovirus-mediated overexpression tagged human umbilical vein ECs, found treatment tumor necrosis factor...

In the nonhuman primate and human corpora lutea, gap junctions have been identified by means of electron microscopy. Gap are formed connexons, which consist a multigene family tissue-specific connexins. ovarian follicle, junction protein connexin-43 is present hormonally regulated. However, there little evidence indicating type connexin in corpus luteum. Therefore, aim this study was to demonstrate presence microscopy messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) for protein. In this paper, a kind of efficient solution to the trihedral corner reflector's (TCR's) radar cross section (RCS) is proposed. Based on combination geometrical optics (GO) and Gordan surface integral method, TCR's RCS was computed compared with results from computatio nal electromagnetics software FEKO. Good agreement significant speedup achieved show that method mentioned in paper capable practical rapid simulation design, especially suitable for electrically large plate structure.
