ALICE is the heavy-ion experiment at CERN Large Hadron Collider. The continuously took data during first physics campaign of machine from fall 2009 until early 2013, using proton and lead-ion beams. In this paper we describe running environment handling procedures, discuss performance detectors analysis methods for various observables.
Rapidity-odd directed flow (v1) measurements for charged pions, protons, and antiprotons near midrapidity (y=0) are reported in sNN=7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, 200 GeV Au+Au collisions as recorded by the STAR detector at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. At intermediate impact parameters, proton net-proton slope parameter dv1/dy|y=0 shows a minimum between 11.5 19.6 GeV. In addition, changes sign twice 7.7 39 The results qualitatively resemble predictions of hydrodynamic model with...
Fluctuations of conserved quantities such as baryon number, charge, and strangeness are sensitive to the correlation length hot dense matter created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions can be used search for QCD critical point. We report first measurements moments net-kaon multiplicity distributions Au+Au at sNN=7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, 200 GeV. The collision centrality energy dependence mean (M), variance (σ2), skewness (S), kurtosis (κ) well ratio σ2/M products Sσ κσ2...
Collisions between prolate uranium nuclei are used to study how particle production and azimuthal anisotropies depend on initial geometry in heavy-ion collisions. We report the two- four-particle cumulants, $v_2\{2\}$ $v_2\{4\}$, for charged hadrons from U+U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 193 GeV Au+Au 200 GeV. Nearly fully overlapping selected based amount of energy deposited by spectators STAR Zero Degree Calorimeters (ZDCs). Within this sample, observed dependence multiplicity...
We present results of analyses two-pion interferometry in $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions at $\sqrt{{s}_{\mathit{NN}}}=7.7$, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV measured the STAR detector as part BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider Beam Energy Scan program. The extracted correlation lengths (Hanbury-Brown--Twiss radii) are studied a function beam energy, azimuthal angle relative to reaction plane, centrality, transverse mass (${m}_{T}$) particles. analysis allows extraction...
Dihadron angular correlations in d+Au collisions at sNN=200GeV are reported as a function of the measured zero-degree calorimeter neutral energy and forward charged hadron multiplicity Au-beam direction. A finite correlated yield is observed large relative pseudorapidity (Δη) on near side (i.e. azimuth Δϕ∼0). This Δη appears to scale with dominant, primarily jet-related, away-side (Δϕ∼π) yield. The Fourier coefficients Δϕ correlation, Vn=〈cosnΔϕ〉, have strong dependence. In addition, it...
We report on measurements of dielectron $({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ production in $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy 200 GeV per nucleon-nucleon pair using the STAR detector BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Systematic yield as function transverse momentum $({p}_{\mathrm{T}})$ and collision centrality show an enhancement compared to cocktail simulation hadronic sources low invariant-mass region $({M}_{ee}<1\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}\text{GeV}/{c}^{2})$....
We present measurements of second-order azimuthal anisotropy $({v}_{2})$ at midrapidity $(|y|<1.0)$ for light nuclei $d,\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}t,\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ (for $\sqrt{{s}_{NN}}=200$, 62.4, 39, 27, 19.6, 11.5, and 7.7 GeV) antinuclei $\overline{d}$ ($\sqrt{{s}_{NN}}=200$, 19.6 $^{3}\overline{\mathrm{He}}$ ($\sqrt{{s}_{NN}}=200$ in the STAR (Solenoidal Tracker RHIC) experiment. The ${v}_{2}$ these produced heavy-ion collisions is compared with those $p$...
The inclusive $J/ψ$ transverse momentum ($p_{T}$) spectra and nuclear modification factors are reported at midrapidity ($|y|<1.0$) in Au+Au collisions $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 39, 62.4 200 GeV taken by the STAR experiment. A suppression of production, with respect to {\color{black}the production $p+p$ scaled number binary nucleon-nucleon collisions}, is observed central these three energies. No significant energy dependence found within uncertainties. measured can be described model calculations...
We report the first measurements of transverse single-spin asymmetries for inclusive jet and $\text{jet}+{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ production at midrapidity from transversely polarized proton-proton collisions $\sqrt{s}=500\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. The data were collected in 2011 with STAR detector sampled $23\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ integrated luminosity an average beam polarization 53%. Asymmetries are reported jets momenta $6<{p}_{T}<55\text{...
We examined the association between midtrimester intra-amniotic sludge and spontaneous preterm birth (PTB) in asymptomatic women undergoing amniocentesis. performed a prospective cohort study of having an amniocentesis for fetal karyotyping 14 24 weeks' gestation. Cervical length presence amniotic were assessed by transvaginal ultrasound. Amniotic fluid concentrations matrix metalloproteinase-8, glucose lactate measured. Early (<32 weeks) late (32 to 36 premature rupture membranes (PPROM)...

Transabdominal ultrasound color were used measure UtA-PI ascending branch level internal cervical os (Site A) apparent crossover external iliac B) weeks, Site B only weeks. In all cases measured left right PI...
Dihadron correlations are analyzed in sNN=200GeV d+Au collisions classified by forward charged particle multiplicity and zero-degree neutral energy the Au-beam direction. It is found that jetlike correlated yield increases with event multiplicity. After taking into account this dependence, non-jet contribution on away side minimal, leaving little room for a back-to-back ridge these collisions.
