이 연구는 수도권 66개 시·군·구를 대상으로 도시간 인구이동 결정요인을 분석한다. 전출지와 전입지를 하나의 쌍으로 하는 자료를 구축하며 도시 내부 인구이동은 제외한다. 종속변수로 인구 전입률을 설정하며 결정요인으로 인구지표, 거리지표, 주택지표, 경제지표, 도시기반시설지표를 사용한다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전입지 간의 거리가 멀수록 인구이동이 감소하며 둘째, 2000년 이후 택지개발사업으로 전출지의 주택이 증가하거나 자가 APT 비율이 증가할 경우 전입지의 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 기존 연구와 달리 전입지와 전출지를 동시에 고려한 모형을 구축하고 연구를 수행했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
