A study of the performance five commercial radiotherapy treatment planning systems (TPSs) for common sites regarding their ability to model heterogeneities and scattered photons has been performed. The comparison was based on CT information prostate, head neck, breast lung cancer cases. TPSs were installed locally at different institutions commissioned clinical use local procedures. For evaluation, beam qualities as identical possible used: low energy (6 MV) high (15 or 18 x-rays. All...

Background: The project aimed at determining the incidence of mandibular osteoradionecrosis (ORN) after radiotherapy, possible risk factors, and dose-volume effects in a large cohort head neck cancer patients (HNC).Methods: consisted 1224 HNC treated with 66–68 Gy 2007–2015 predominantly IMRT. ORN cases were defined from clinical observations follow-up through hospital code diagnostics oral-maxillofacial surgery cross-checked national Danish Head Neck Cancer database. A comparative study was performed to reveal differences and relative figures of merit seven different calculation algorithms for photon beams when applied inhomogeneous media. The following were investigated: Varian Eclipse: the anisotropic analytical algorithm, pencil beam with modified Batho correction; Nucletron Helax-TMS: collapsed cone equivalent path length CMS XiO: multigrid superposition fast Fourier transform convolution; Philips Pinnacle: cone. In this study we investigated the interchangeability of planning CT and cone-beam (CBCT) extracted radiomic features. Furthermore, a previously described based prognostic signature for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients using CBCT features was validated. One training dataset 132 two validation datasets 62 94stage I-IV NSCLC were included. Interchangeability assessed by performing linear regression on A two-step correction applied prior to model published signature. Results 13.3% (149...

Treatment planning is time‐consuming and the outcome depends on person performing optimization. A system that automates treatment could potentially reduce manual time required for optimization also provide a method to variation between persons radiation dose (dosimetrist) improve overall plan quality. This study evaluates performance of Auto‐Planning module has recently become clinically available in Pinnacle 3 therapy system. Twenty‐six delivered head neck plans were reoptimized with...

Purpose: A 1.5 T MR Linac (MRL) has recently become available. MRL treatment workflows (WF) include online plan adaptation based on daily images (MRI). This study reports initial clinical experiences after five months of use in terms patient compliance, cases, WF timings, and dosimetric accuracy.Method materials: Two different were used dependent the situation day; Adapt To Position (ATP) where reference position is adjusted rigidly to match targets OARs, Shape (ATS), a new created anatomy...

The thyroid gland is an organ at risk in breast cancer survivors who receive radiation therapy to the supraclavicular lymph nodes. We investigated effect of dose on incidence hypothyroidism early-stage patients treated with CT-guided therapy. recruited women aged ≤75 years diagnosed from March 2016 through August 2017 Odense University Hospital, Denmark. Thyroid function was measured blood samples drawn baseline, 6, 12, and 18 months. delineated using CT scans estimate volume thyroid....

Introduction This work describes the development of a novel radiomics phantom designed for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that can be used in multicenter setting. The purpose this study is to assess stability and reproducibility MRI‐based radiomic features using across different MRI scanners. Methods & materials A set phantoms were three‐dimensional (3D) printed visible materials. One imaged on seven scanners one was scanner. Radiomics analysis phantoms, which included first‐order...

With daily, MR-guided online adapted radiotherapy (MRgART) it may be possible to reduce the PTV in pelvic RT. This study investigated potential reduction normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) of MRgART compared standard for high-risk prostate cancer.Twenty patients treated with 78 Gy and 56 elective lymph nodes were included. VMAT plans generated clinical margins. Additionally planning MR, had three MRI scans during treatment simulate an MRgART. A reference plan margins determined...

We have studied the radiative cooling of negatively charged fullerene ions by following thermionic emission as a function time after injection into heavy-ion storage ring ASTRID. It is argued that electron can be used calibrated thermometer to measure rate. For ${C}_{60}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ at $\ensuremath{\sim}1500\mathrm{K}$ corresponds radiation intensity $\ensuremath{\sim}190\mathrm{eV}/\mathrm{s}$, which 2 orders magnitude more than expected from infrared active vibrations.

Introduction. Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for early stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is now an accepted and patient friendly treatment, but still controversy exists about its comparability to conventional (RT).
