Cell-to-cell communication strategies include extracellular vesicles (EVs) in plants and animals. The bioactive molecules a diet rich vegetables fruits are associated with disease-preventive effects. Plant-derived EVs (PDEVs) biogenetically morphologically comparable to mammalian transport molecules, including miRNAs. However, the biological functions of PDEVs not fully understood, standard isolation protocols lacking. Here, were isolated from four foods combination ultracentrifugation size...

Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis relies on clinical symptoms complemented with biological biomarkers, the Amyloid Tau Neurodegeneration (ATN) framework. Small non-coding RNA (sncRNA) in blood have emerged as potential predictors of AD. We identified sncRNA signatures specific to ATN and AD, evaluated both their contribution improving AD conversion prediction beyond alone.

ABSTRACT A diet rich in lipids can lead to many deleterious conditions, which involve regulatory molecules, such as non‐coding (nc)RNAs. We aimed analyze the effects of high dietary lipid exposure on expression intestinal ncRNAs (long [lncRNAs] and circular [circRNAs]). lncRNAs circRNAs were screened, both vivo (mice) vitro (human organoids). In vivo, 15 (9 up‐ 6 downregulated) 41 (13 28 modulated 3 h after a challenge, while 11 (4 7 was altered 4 days daily high‐fat intake. vitro, 251 387...

ABSTRACT Hydroxytyrosol (HT) consumption is associated with healthy outcomes. Specifically, its ability to modulate microRNA (miRNA) expression has been described. However, whether HT influences the secretion of extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their transported miRNAs remains unknown. Here, following administration, we explored potential changes in EV miRNA cargo during postprandial state after 1 week daily intake. Twelve participants received, first, a single 25 mg dose (postprandial...

Background Infections caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) may cause a disease, termed disease 2019 (COVID-19), with significant mortality. Host responses to this infection, mainly in terms of systemic inflammation, have emerged as key pathogenetic mechanisms and their modulation has shown mortality benefit. Methods In cohort 56 critically ill COVID-19 patients, peripheral blood transcriptomes were obtained at admission an intensive care unit (ICU) clustered...

Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica) and its bioactive compounds are associated with beneficial health effects, which might be enabled, at least in part, through miRNA regulation, despite recent controversial studies suggesting that exogenous dietary miRNAs may reach host circulation target cells to regulate gene expression. Here, a computational analysis was performed explore the processes pathways genes targeted either by (1) host-expressed (endogenous) modulated broccoli or (2)...

The chimeric EWSR1::FLI1 transcription factor is the main oncogenic event in Ewing sarcoma. Recently, it has been proposed that levels can fluctuate sarcoma cells, giving rise to two cell populations. EWSR1::FLI1low cells present a migratory and invasive phenotype, while EWSR1::FLI1high are more proliferative. In this work, we described how CD44 standard isoform (CD44s), transmembrane protein involved adhesion migration, overexpressed phenotype. functional characterization of CD44s...

Scope Extra virgin olive oil has numerous cardiopreventive effects, largely due to its high content of (poly)phenols such as hydroxytyrosol (HT). However, some animal studies suggest that excessive consumption may alter systemic lipoprotein metabolism. Because human metabolism differs from rodents, this study examines the effects HT in a humanized mouse model approximates Methods and results Mice are treated follows: control diet or enriched with HT.
