BACKGROUND Heterozygous familial hypobetalipoproteinemia (FHBL) is a semi-autosomal disorder that caused mainly by an APOB variant. It usually asymptomatic and rarely leads to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). CASE SUMMARY A 12-year-old boy was referred our hospital after prolonged elevation of liver enzymes observed during health checkups in Kagawa Prefecture. Abdominal ultrasound showed bright liver, laboratory investigations revealed low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol...

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a genetic disorder characterized by elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, which increases the risk of premature coronary artery disease. Early detection and treatment are vital, especially in children. To improve FH diagnosis children, Japan Atherosclerosis Society (JAS) released new guidelines July 2022. This study assessed compared sensitivity specificity clinical diagnostic criteria from JAS pediatric 2017

Abstract Despite its poor outcomes, therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is the current standard treatment for neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). In this study, due to antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic properties, effectiveness of molecular hydrogen (H 2 ) combined with TH was evaluated by means neurological histological assessments. Piglets were divided into three groups: insult normothermia (NT), (TH, 33.5 ± 0.5 °C), H ventilation (TH-H , 2.1–2.7%). administered 24 h....

Abstract D ubin– J ohnson syndrome ( DJS ) is an autosomal recessive inherited disorder characterized by conjugated hyperbilirubinemia. Neonatal‐onset rare. It caused dysfunction of adenosine triphosphate‐binding cassette, sub‐family C , member 2 ABCC2 ). We found a novel compound heterozygous mutation ‐related gene: W709R T2145C ): missense in exon 17, and R768W C2302T ), 18. The aim of this study was to use near-infrared time-resolved spectroscopy (TRS) determine the absolute values cerebral blood volume (CBV) and hemoglobin oxygen saturation (ScO2) during immediate transition period in term neonates changes optical properties such as differential pathlength factor (DPF) reduced scattering coefficient (μs’). CBV ScO2 were measured using TRS first 15 min after birth by vaginal delivery who did not need resuscitation. Within 2–3 birth, showed various increases or...

Paediatric splenic abscesses are rare, but can be fatal. An 8-year-old boy developed recurrent fever and abdominal pain 5 months after undergoing an appendectomy. A CT scan showed rectovesical pouch abscesses. The patient was successfully treated with antibiotics, laparoscopic drainage debridement of pus from the abscess. Eggerthella lenta cultured latter lesion. Early diagnosis treatment resulted in satisfactory resolution infection.

Traditional serrated adenoma (TSA) is a type of polyp the colorectum and thought to be precancerous lesion. There are three types polyps, namely, hyperplastic sessile adenomas/polyps, TSAs. TSA least common accounts for about 5% polyps. Here we report pediatric case that was successfully resected by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). This rare describes patient with no family history colonic who admitted our hospital hematochezia. On colonoscopy, found polypoid lesion measuring 10 mm in...

Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is a standard therapy for neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy. One potential additional the free radical scavenger edaravone (EV; 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one).This study aimed to compare neuroprotective effects of plus therapeutic (TH + EV) with those TH alone after insult in newborn piglet. Anaesthetized piglets were subjected 40 min hypoxia (3-5% inspired oxygen), and cerebral ischaemia was assessed using blood volume. Body temperature maintained...

Efficacy of the over-the-scope clip (OTSC; Ovesco Endoscopy GmbH, Tübingen, Germany) system has been described in adult population [1] [2] [3] [4], very rarely pediatric patients. Wright et al. reported a first-ever application OTSC for patients weighing over 10 kg with gastrocutaneous fistula [5]. However, its indication younger patients, those lower weight, or other situations, such as refractory bleeding, remains unclear. Here, we describe effective temporary hemostasis massive duodenal...
