This White Paper presents the science case of an Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), focused on structure and interactions gluon-dominated matter, with intent to articulate it broader nuclear community. It was commissioned by managements Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) Thomas Jefferson Accelerator Facility (JLab) objective presenting a summary scientific opportunities goals EIC as follow-up 2007 NSAC Long Range plan. document is culmination community-wide effort in following series workshops...

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The effect of topical corticosteroids after excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) remains a matter some controversy. Refractive effects may be different according to the amount myopia and timing instillation. METHODS: Two groups patients were studied: Study A consisted 215 eyes (128 patients) with PRK (mean baseline myopia, -6.53 ± 2.22 D) that received no (No Corticosteroid Group) unless significant regression or corneal haze appeared (Delayed Group), in B, we...

The results of a search for solar axions from the Korea Invisible Mass Search (KIMS) experiment at Yangyang Underground Laboratory are presented. Low-energy electron-recoil events would be produced by conversion into electrons via axio-electric effect in CsI(Tl) crystals. Using data an exposure 34,596 kg · days, we set 90 % confidence level upper limit on axion-electron coupling, g ae , 1.39 × 10 −11 axion mass less than 1 keV/c2. This is lower indirect neutrino bound, and fully excludes QCD...

Non-invasive objective implant stability measurements are needed to determine the appropriate timing of prosthetic fitting after placement. We compared early results obtained using resonance frequency analysis (RFA) and damping capacity (DCA) depending on length bone density. Total 60, 4.0 mm diameter implants various lengths (7.3 mm, 10 13 mm) were used. In Group I, low-density was described 15 PCF (0.24 g/cm3) polyurethane blocks, in II, 30 (0.48 blocks used describe medium density bone....

This study was performed to evaluate the result of photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) without topical corticosteroid treatment at postoperative two years. PRK by Summit OmniMed excimer laser, using a 5.0 mm ablation zone in 51 eyes 29 patients who were then followed up for more than 2 During this period, showed myopic regression less 1.5 diopters(D) or corneal haze grade 2, regarded as favorable group and those equal greater D 1 unfavorable group. Thirty-four results any treatment, 17...

Abstract To apply real-time predictive control using automated devices for minimizing the risk of surface condensation in a residential space, authors first developed nodal network model that simulates flow moist air and thermal behavior target area with given boundary conditions space. The lumped was enhanced parameter estimation technique based on measured temperature, humidity, schedule data. However, humidity prediction performance still outside valid range. A data-driven then an...

Alpha-interferon (alpha-IFN) and gamma-interferon (gamma-IFN) are highly effective biologic agents in the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). 4-hydroperoxycyclophosphamide (4-HC) is most commonly used chemotherapeutic drug when purging bone marrow contaminated with malignant cells. To investigate efficacy alpha-IFN, gamma-IFN 4-HC as CML patients, K562 cells, a human cell line, were treated vitro these drugs singly or combination. The cytotoxic effect was evaluated by MTT assay....
