Phylogeny and characteristics of ruminants Ruminants are a diverse group mammals that includes families containing well-known taxa such as deer, cows, goats. However, their evolutionary relationships have been contentious, the origins distinctive digestive systems headgear, including antlers horns (see Perspective by Ker Yang). To understand among ruminants, L. Chen et al. sequenced 44 species representing 6 performed phylogenetic analysis. From this analysis, they were able to resolve...
Searching for new receptors of dendritic cell- and T cell-active chemokines, we used a combination techniques to interrogate orphan chemokine receptors. We report here on human CCX CKR, previously represented only by noncontiguous expressed sequence tags homologous bovine PPR1, putative gustatory receptor. employed two-tiered process ligand assignment, where immobilized chemokines constructed stalks (stalkokines) were as bait adhesion cells expressing CKR. These adhered stalkokines...
Indicine cattle, also referred to as zebu (Bos taurus indicus), play a central role in pastoral communities across wide range of agro-ecosystems, from extremely hot semiarid regions humid tropical regions. However, their adaptive genetic changes following dispersal into East Asia the Indian subcontinent have remained poorly documented. Here, we characterize global diversity using high-quality whole-genome sequencing data 354 indicine cattle 57 breeds/populations, including major...
Abstract Background Structural variations (SVs) in individual genomes are major determinants of complex traits, including adaptability to environmental variables. The Mongolian and Hainan cattle breeds East Asia taurine indicine origins that have evolved adapt cold hot environments, respectively. However, few studies investigated SVs Asian their roles adaptation, little is known about adaptively introgressed cattle. Results In this study, we examine the climate adaptation these two lineages...

However, importance proteins current epidemiologically important influenza A strains not known. In this study, we report on pathological effects deficient 2009 (pH1N1) highly pathogenic avian H5N1 viruses. We that loss expression pH1N1 viruses increased viral replication apoptosis A549 cells virulence host inflammatory response addition, up-regulated synthesis...
Chinese indicine cattle harbor a much higher genetic diversity compared with other domestic cattle, but their genome architecture remains uninvestigated. Using PacBio HiFi sequencing data from 10 across southern China, we assembled 20 high-quality partially phased genomes and integrated them into multiassembly graph containing 148.5 Mb (5.6%) of novel sequence. We identified 156,009 high-confidence nonredundant structural variants (SVs) 206 SV hotspots spanning ∼195 gene-rich detected 34,249...
The World Health Organization recently released a novel metric for healthy aging: intrinsic capacity (IC). relationship between IC and the incidence of dementia, its subtypes, is unknown. We aimed to analyze dementia subtypes. Moreover, we tested whether genetic susceptibility could be modified by IC.
Abstract Background Preweaned rumen development is vital for animal health and efficient fermentation. In this study, we integrated ruminal transcriptomic metagenomic data to explore the dynamics of functions, microbial colonization, their functional interactions during first 8 weeks life in goats. Results The dynamic profiles both exhibited two distinct phases early development. differentially expressed genes transcriptome between showed that immune-related response was enriched phase...
Clubroot is one of the major diseases adversely affecting Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa) yield and quality. To precisely characterize Plasmodiophora brassicae infection on cabbage, we developed a dual fluorescent staining method for simultaneously examining pathogen, cell structures, starch grains. The number (amylopectin) grains increased in B. rapa roots infected by P. brassicae, especially from 14 to 21 days after inoculation. Therefore, expression levels 38 core metabolism genes were...
To monitor and study the molecular epidemiology, evolution pathogenicity of infectious bronchitis viruses (IBVs) in China recent years further our knowledge IBVs.Thirty-seven IBV isolates were isolated from commercial chickens China. The characterized by RT-PCR, sequencing, typing analyzing entire S1 gene. In addition, 4 selected used to experimentally infect specific pathogen-free their pathogenicity.Three types have been cocirculating chicken flocks years. Unique insertions deletions...
Thermogenic adipose tissue, both beige and brown, experiences whitening as animals are exposed to warmth age, but the potential mechanisms not fully understood. In this study, we employed single-nucleus RNA-seq construct a cell atlas during progression identified characteristics of thermogenic adipocytes. Our histological studies bulk transcriptome gene expression analysis confirmed that perirenal omental tissues (pAT oAT) exhibited progressive in goats. Compared classic brown adipocytes...
Summary Temperate japonica / geng (GJ) rice yield has significantly improved due to intensive breeding efforts, dramatically enhancing global food security. However, little is known about the underlying genomic structural variations (SVs) responsible for this improvement. We compared 58 long‐read assemblies comprising cultivated and wild species in present study, revealing 156 319 SVs. The phylogenomic analysis based on SV dataset detected putatively selected region of GJ sub‐populations. A...
This study aimed to assess the feasibility of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment obtain quality juice, and prepared functional apple juice using fermentation technology. The physicochemical properties HHP (10 min) pasteurized (85 °C, 15 juices were compared during fermentation. Moreover, survival Lactobacillus plantarum after under simulated gastrointestinal conditions was evaluated. Results showed that HHP-treated had better than in terms color difference, total phenol content,...
Divergence of gene expression and alternative splicing is a crucial driving force in the evolution species; to date, however molecular mechanism remains unclear. Hybrids closely related species provide suitable model analyze allele-specific (ASE) (ASS). Analysis ASE ASS can uncover differences cis-regulatory elements between species, while eliminating interference trans-regulatory elements. Here, we detailed characterization from 19 10 transcriptome datasets across five tissues...
The muskox and reindeer are the only ruminants that have evolved to survive in harsh Arctic environments. However, genetic basis of this adaptation remains largely unclear. Here, we compared a de novo assembled genome with other ruminant genomes identify convergent amino acid substitutions, rapidly evolving genes positively selected among two ruminants. We found these candidate were mainly involved brown adipose tissue (BAT) thermogenesis circadian rhythm. Furthermore, by integrating...
ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of a novel duck hepatitis A virus type 3 (DHAV-3) isolated from dead Cherry Valley duckling in eastern China. The whole genomic nucleotide and polyprotein amino acid had higher homology with those Chinese DHAV-3 isolates, medium Korean lowest Vietnamese isolate DN2. result indicated that genetic evolution isolates obvious geographical features.
We report here the complete genome sequence of a duck astrovirus (DAstV) isolated from dead duckling in eastern China. Sequence analyses indicated that possessed typical organization. Comparison partial polymerase gene sequences DAstV-1 and DAstV-2 showed shared 94.4% 64.2% nucleotide identity, respectively. The whole had highest homology with strain C-NGB (98.7%).
