본 연구는 유아교사의 유아 본성에 대한 이미지 분석을 통해서 다양한 유형을 탐색하고, 이미지의 의미를 살펴보는 것에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 연구대상인 유아교사 240명을 임의표집하여 선정하였고, 연구자는 이미지, 이미지에 설명을 작성할 수 있는 설문지를 제작한 후 자료를 수집하였다. 주요 연구결과를 살펴보면, 이미지는 진화적 본성, 창조적 탐구적 본능적 미지적 양면적 본성의 순으로 나타났다. 본성에는 씨앗과 새싹의 이미지가 많이 나타났고, 도화지와 백지, 유아와 물음표, 그리고 자연이, 사랑과 별이, 무지개와 물이, 천사와 악마, 양면색종이의 비율이 높게 통해 각각의 유형별 특성에 따른 유아교육에 기초하여 살펴본 후, 구체적인 실천방안에 대해 시사점을 도출하였다.
