Previous studies suggest that nitric oxide (NO) may modulate insulin-induced uptake of glucose in insulin-sensitive tissues. Asymmetrical dimethylarginine (ADMA) is an endogenous inhibitor NO synthase (NOS). We hypothesized a reduction ADMA would increase synthesis and thereby enhance insulin sensitivity. To test this hypothesis we used transgenic mouse which overexpressed human dimethylaminohydrolase (DDAH-I). The DDAH-I mice had lower plasma at all ages (22 to 70 wk) by comparison wild-type...

Bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) have many characteristics of mesenchymal stem that can differentiate into smooth muscle (SMCs). However, there been few studies closely following the cell development lineage among BMSCs.To investigate possible existence a population committed to SMC bone adhesion cells, we tried detect and follow in vitro differentiation such type by using promoter-sorting method with human SM22alpha promoter (-480 bp)/green fluorescent protein (GFP) construct. Platelet adhesion on components of the extracellular matrix and platelet activation by those are crucial for arrest posttraumatic bleeding, but they can also harm tissue occluding diseased vessels. Cholinergic angiogenesis is mediated by an endothelial nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (EC nAChR). Short-term administration of nicotine stimulates via EC nAChRs.The long-term effects upon cholinergic are unknown. The objective this study was to determine whether chronic exposure blunts angiogenesis. We exposed C57/Bl6 male mice ( n = 42) (200 μg/ml drinking water) or vehicle for 8 16 weeks. Subsequently, hindlimb ischemia induced ligation the left femoral artery. After surgery, animals in...

Calcified amorphous tumour is a rare, non-neoplastic, endocardially based, intracavitary cardiac mass. This report describes 59-year old man in whom mobile mass was found incidentally the heart by routine echocardiography after he had been on haemodialysis for 3 years. Transoesophageal revealed high-echoic swinging that originated from annulus of anterior commissure mitral valve. Surgical resection performed to prevent embolization, and his clinical course excellent.
