Encephalitis caused by anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antibodies is the leading cause of immune-mediated encephalitis. There are limited data on intensive care unit (ICU) management these patients. To identify prognostic factors good neurologic outcome in patients admitted to an ICU with anti-NMDAR encephalitis. This was observational multicenter study all consecutive adult diagnosed encephalitis at French National Reference Centre, between 2008 and 2014. The primary a 6 months...

COVID-19 pneumonia typically begins with subpleural ground glass opacities progressive extension on computerized tomography studies. Lung ultrasound is well suited to this interstitial, involvement, and it now broadly used in intensive care units (ICUs). The severity of lung infiltrates can be described numerically a reproducible validated score (LUSS). We hypothesized that LUSS might useful as tool non-invasively monitor the evolution at bedside. monitoring was rapidly implemented...

OBJECTIVES: Prone position is used in acute respiratory distress syndrome and coronavirus disease 2019 syndrome. However, it unclear how responders may be identified whether an oxygenation response improves outcome. The objective of this study was to quantify the prone position, describe differences between syndrome, explore variables associated with survival. DESIGN: Retrospective, observational, multicenter, international cohort study. SETTING: Seven ICUs Italy, United Kingdom, France....

We aimed at assessing the efficacy and safety on antibiotic exposure of a strategy combining respiratory multiplex PCR (mPCR) with enlarged panel daily procalcitonin (PCT) measurements, as compared conventional strategy, in adult patients who were critically ill laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia. This multicentre, parallel-group, open-label, randomized controlled trial enrolled admitted to 13 intensive care units (ICUs) France. Patients assigned (1:1) control which streamlining...

AimsResuscitated cardiac arrest (CA), leading to harmful cardiovascular dysfunction and multiple organ failure, includes a whole-body hypoxia–reoxygenation phenomenon. Opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) appears be pivotal event in ischaemia–reperfusion injury. We hypothesized that pharmacological inhibition mPTP opening may prevent post-CA syndrome.

Experimental evidence suggests that cyclosporine prevents postcardiac arrest syndrome by attenuating the systemic ischemia reperfusion response. To determine whether early administration of at time resuscitation in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac (OHCA) would prevent multiple organ failure.A multicenter, single-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted from June 22, 2010, to March 13, 2013 (Cyclosporine A Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation [CYRUS]). Sixteen intensive care...

In critically ill COVID-19 patients, the initial response to SARS-CoV-2 infection is characterized by major immune dysfunctions. The capacity of these severe patients mount a robust and persistent specific T cell despite presence alterations during ICU stay unknown. Critically were sampled five times 9 13 months afterwards. Immune monitoring included counts lymphocyte subpopulations, HLA-DR expression on monocytes, plasma IL-6 IL-10 concentrations, anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG levels proliferation in...

Metformin-associated lactic acidosis (MALA) is a severe metabolic failure with high related mortality. Although its use controversial, intermittent hemodialysis reported to be the most frequently used treatment in conjunction nonspecific supportive measures.
