Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has strained healthcare systems with patient hospitalizations and deaths. Anti-spike monoclonal antibodies, including bamlanivimab, have demonstrated reduction in hospitalization rates clinical trials, yet real-world evidence is lacking. We conducted a retrospective case-control study across single system of nonhospitalized patients, age 18 years or older, documented positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) testing, risk factors...

Abstract Background The escalating prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa presents a serious threat to patient care due its limited treatment options. However, imipenem-cilastatin-relebactam (IMI/REL) is promising beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor combination with expanded activity against MDR P. aeruginosa. This study aimed explore the characteristics, efficacy and safety IMI/REL for infections aeruginosa.Table 1.Patient infection characteristics. Methods was...

Abstract Background Candida auris is a yeast that causes invasive infections such as bloodstream (BSIs); mortality rates for C. BSIs may be high 80%. Rates have been climbing in the U.S. Exposure to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs), or inpatient rehabilitation (IRFs) represents known risk factor auris. Our institution experienced outbreak from September 2023 - January 2024. Figure 1: Outbreak Epidemic Curve Methods cases were identified clinical...

Abstract Background Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the common reasons for antibiotic use across healthcare settings. Across an eleven-hospital system, urinary pathogens (E. coli, Proteus species, and Klebsiella species) had greater than 80% coverage with cefazolin, which was within 0-8% ceftriaxone based on local antibiograms. With increased risk C. difficile infection resistance development seen ceftriaxone, cefazolin promoted as first line empiric UTI coverage.Table 1:Outcomes...

Abstract Background Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common bacterial infections, yet patients with recurrent infection often not offered effective preventative therapies, persistence may have a urologic nidus of infection, and non-infectious syndromes over-treated antibiotics. Abstract Background Multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative infections are a substantial threat to patients and public health. Imipenem/cilastatin/relebactam (IMI/REL) is beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor with expanded activity against MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales. High hamstring tendinopathy is an uncommon overuse injury seen in running athletes. Patients typically report deep buttock or thigh pain. A detailed physical examination and, occasionally, imaging studies are necessary to confirm the diagnosis. Rehabilitation involves soft-tissue mobilization, frequent stretching, and progressive eccentric strengthening core stabilization exercises. In recalcitrant cases, ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injection into tendon sheath can be helpful, surgery...

Abstract A multicenter case series of 21 patients were treated with imipenem-cilastatin-relebactam. There mixed infection sources, pulmonary infections (11/21,52%) composing the majority. The primary pathogen was Pseudomonas aeruginosa (16/21, 76%), and 15/16 (94%) isolates multidrug-resistant. Thirty-day survival occurred in 14/21 (67%) patients. Two experienced adverse effects.
