Seismic sequences are a powerful tool to locally infer geometrical and mechanical properties of faults fault systems. In this study, we provided detailed location characterization events the 3–7 July 2020 Irpinia sequence (southern Italy) that occurred at northern tip main segment ruptured during 1980 earthquake. Using an autocorrelation technique, detected more than 340 within sequence, with local magnitude ranging between −0.5 3.0. We thus double difference locations, source parameter...

In this paper we describe an efficient and robust digital implementation of a lock-in amplifier, based on the classic quadrature technique mathematical algorithm for error signal extraction. Both hardware software architecture are modular. The consists VME-bus (IEEE 1014) standard crate, in which commercial VME boards (the CPU, ADC DAC) housed. is written C language portability easy integration also within complicated architectures. implementing amplifier can be particularized by user basis...
Large optical components (diameter 350 mm), having extremely low loss at 1064 nm, are needed for the large-scale Michelson-type interferometer VIRGO. Today, ion beam sputtering is only deposition technique able to produce such performances. Consequently, a large system was built coat optics up 700 mm in diameter: two substrates may also be coated same time arm symmetry problem. The performances of this coater described terms layer uniformity on scale (wavefront) and losses (absorption...
This work reports the first observation of azimuthal asymmetries around thrust axis in $e^+e^-$ annihilation pairs back-to-back charged pions one hemisphere, and $\pi^0$ $\eta$ mesons opposite hemisphere. These results are complemented by a new analysis pions. The rise with relative momentum $z$ detected hadrons as well transverse respect to axis. sensitive Collins fragmentation function $H_1^{\perp}$ provide complementary information previous measurements kaons final state. In particular,...
We present the results of a study major low-frequency sources seismic activity at Virgo site. These are natural and human origin: oceanic microseism (below 1 Hz), local traffic on site 10 Hz). Using data collected during commissioning central interferometer (CITF) we have measured coupling to interferometer, demonstrating that noise contributed CITF dark fringe only below approximately 2 Hz.
Spectroscopic and photometric (UBV) observations of Z CMa were carried out at ESO, La Silla during February 1983. Photometric variations the order a few tenths magnitude detected in contrast with its past more variable behavior. The spectrum appears to have complex structure showing same time characteristics both early (B5 - B8) late (middle F) spectral types. A rather peculiar profile three different absorption components was observed Hβ line. From comparison between present behaviour it...
In this paper we derive analytic expressions of the field on mirror surfaces a pendular and misaligned Fabry-P\'erot resonator by taking into account longitudinal transverse optical modes. particular, obtain spectral components power reflected these devices for oscillating mirrors modulated laser beams. addition, discuss equations motion holders analyze onset instabilities induced radiation pressure, accounting modes torsional oscillations multiple pendula to which are suspended.

The authors have assembled a sample of 42 W Ursae Majoris binary systems (21 W-type, 21 A-type) whose light curves all been solved by means the Wilson & Devinney method. masses, radii and luminosities derived assuming global physical properties system are same as for an analogous detached one, therefore without any constraint on parameters primary star.
Grid systems can take advantage from monitoring services to improve the reliability user point of view and accelerate diagnostic troubleshooting. However, distributed nature computing infrastructure introduces several problems regarding implementation, deployment, updating management subsystem these affect effectiveness activity itself. In this paper, we illustrate a new model for multiregional grid infrastructure. Stressing IaaS paradigm storage auto-replica, propose very flexible...
The existence of large matter-antimatter asymmetry (CP violation) in the b-quark system as predicted Kobayashi-Maskawa theory was established by B-Factory experiments, Belle and BaBar. However, this cannot explain magnitude universe we live today. This indicates undiscovered new physics exists. II experiment, next generation B-Factory, is expected to reveal accumulating 50 times more data (∼50ab−1) than 2023. computing has handle an amount beam eventually corresponding several tens PetaByte...
We implement a digital fringe-counting technique to measure in real time the relative mirror displacement of suspended Michelson interferometer with modulated optical path length for oscillations much larger than laser wavelength (λ). This provides proper error signal servo mechanism that reduces within λ/2. The implemented does not require extra optics or polarizers and thus can be used interferometric gravitational wave detectors as starting procedure get system locked.
The monitoring of rock volume where offshore exploitation activities take place is crucial to assess the corresponding seismic hazard. Fluid injection/extraction operations generate a pore fluid pressure perturbation into hosting reservoir which, in turn, may trigger new failures and induce changes elastic properties rocks. Our purpose evaluate feasibility reconstructing diffusion host medium by imaging 4D velocity using active seismic. We simulated repeated surveys imaged target volume....
We report new measurements of the production cross sections pairs charged pions and kaons as a function their fractional energies using various fractional-energy definitions. Two different definitions were used compared to conventional definition reported previously. The variables aim at either identifying dihadron in terms single-hadron fragmentation functions, or provide means characterizing transverse momentum created process. results obtained applying updated initial-state radiation...
