Aptamers selected against various kinds of targets have shown remarkable specificity and affinity, similar to those displayed by antibodies their antigens. To employ aptamers as genotyping reagents for the identification pathogens strains, in vitro selections were carried out find that specifically bind distinguish closely related human influenza A virus subtype H3N2. Envelope fusion negligibly small at neutral pH but greatly activated in acidic media a narrow range around 5.0. The half-time less than 1 min 37 degrees C Virus binding almost independent of the pH. Endocytosis occurred with about 7 pH, 50% initially bound internalized after h. Electron micrographs showed particles coated pits microvillous surface plasma membrane...

Aptamers are known for their higher discriminating ability between closely related molecules and requirement only a small region binding, as compared to an antibody. In the present studies, we have isolated specific RNA aptamer against influenza virus B/Johannesburg/05/1999 by in vitro selection procedure. The bound efficiently HA of B required 5 mM MgCl2 ion its recognition. not distinguished derived from A virus, but also inhibited HA-mediated membrane fusion.

ABSTRACT Acinetobacter sp. strain M-1 accumulated a large amount of wax esters from an n -alkane under nitrogen-limiting conditions. Under the optimized conditions with -hexadecane as substrate, hexadecyl hexadecanoate in cells reached 0.17 g/g (dry weight). Electron microscopic analysis revealed that multilayered disk-shaped intracellular inclusions were formed concomitant ester formation. The contribution acyl-CoA reductase to synthesis was evaluated by gene disruption analysis.
