In an attempt to repair articular cartilage, allograft chondrocytes embedded in collagen gel, were transplanted into full-thickness defects rabbit cartilage. Twenty-four weeks after the transplantation, filled with hyaline specifically synthesising Type II collagen. These autoradiographically proven have originated from grafts. Assessed histologically success rate was about 80%, a marked improvement over results reported previous studies on chondrocyte transplantation without gel. By...

The revascularisation and remodelling of allografts used to replace the anterior cruciate ligament in canine knee were studied by microangiographic, histological biomechanical methods. 26 obtained from patellar tendons other dogs stored deep freezing. In a control study strip tendon same leg was as an autologous free graft. Microangiography showed that had been revascularised sixth postoperative week, later developed intrinsic vascular pattern similar normal ligament. Histologically,...

The average length follow-up was over five years. Collapse occurred most often when focus bone occupied weight-bearing surface head. Flatness due subchondral fracture an early manifestation collapse. Classification into six types based upon radiographic findings provided accurate prognosis for individual cases ANFH...

Porous blocks of calcium hydroxyapatite ceramic were evaluated as delivery systems for the sustained release antibiotics. We tested gentamicin sulphate, cefoperazone sodium, and flomoxef sodium in powder form placed a cylindrical cavity blocks, using vitro studies elution vivo rats. Gentamicin sulphate gave maximum concentration within first week, which gradually decreased but was still effective at 12 weeks, when 70% antibiotic had been released. Even this stage from 75 mg dose five times...

We report 60 benign bone tumours treated by resection and curettage followed the implantation of calcium hydroxyapatite ceramic (CHA). After follow-up six to months (average 36), no patient had local recurrence tumour or any adverse effects from implants. In almost all cases radiography showed that CHA was well-incorporated into host bone, with new formation in around CHA. Corrective remodelling deformed normal fracture healing suggested there turnover presence Histology biopsies seven...

Under the reaction conditions employed, any one these flavonoids almost completely inhibited activity RLV transcriptase at a concentration 1 μg/ml. HIV was by 100%,...

Type IX collagen, containing molecules of the three distinct polypeptides alpha 1(IX), 2(IX), and 3(IX), is an interesting hybrid extracellular matrix component in cartilage eye tissues, with properties both a proteoglycan collagen. The 1 (IX) chain has two forms, as result tissue-specific utilization alternative promoters; 2(IX) carries covalently attached glycosaminoglycan side chain. We have introduced gene construct controlled by promoter/enhancer expressing truncated 1(IX) into mice....

Thermosensitive TRP (thermo TRP) channels are well recognized for their contributions to sensory transduction, responding a wide variety of stimuli including temperature, nociceptive stimuli, touch, and osmolarity. However, the precise roles thermo during development have not been determined. To explore functional importance neural development, temporal expression was determined in embryonic mice. Interestingly, TRPV2 detected spinal motor neurons addition dorsal root ganglia from day 10.5...

The differed causing unwinding duplex DNA, but both classes compound induced enzymic DNA breakage at same sites on DNA. Moreover, cleavage specificity was as that...

Although SsrA(tmRNA)-mediated trans-translation is thought to maintain the translation capacity of bacterial cells by rescuing ribosomes stalled on messenger RNA lacking an in-frame stop codon, single disruption ssrA does not crucially hamper growth Escherichia coli. Here, we identified YhdL (renamed ArfA for alternative ribosome-rescue factor) as a factor essential viability E. coli in absence SsrA. The ssrA-arfA synthetic lethality was alleviated SsrA(DD) , SsrA variant that adds...

Five patients with severe cervical spondylotic myelopathy were followed clinically until their deaths, and neurologic deficits repeatedly documented. In the terminal phase, these exhibited abnormal postures, muscle wasting, inability to stand walk. Sensory loss varied was most peripherally. This associated extrusive destruction both gray white matter, ascending descending...

Summary Accumulation of stalled ribosomes at the 3′ end mRNA without a stop codon (non‐stop mRNA) is supposed to be toxic bacterial cells. Escherichia coli has least two distinct systems rescue such ribosomes: SsrA‐dependent trans ‐translation and ArfA‐dependent ribosome rescue. Combination ssrA arfA mutations synthetically lethal, suggesting significance In this study, we identified E. yaeJ gene, encoding peptide‐release factor homologue with GGQ motif, as multicopy suppressor lethal...

ABSTRACT Oligodendrocytes, the myelinating cells of vertebrate CNS, originally develop from neuroepithelium. Recent studies suggest that spinal cord oligodendrocyte precursors are initially localized in region ventral ventricular zone and subsequently disperse throughout cord. The characteristics these early their subsequent migration has been difficult to assay directly rodent due a lack appropriate reagents. In developing chick cord, we show can be specifically identified by labeling with...
