Ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) and iron isomaltoside 1000 (IIM) are increasingly used because they allow correction of severe deficiency in a single infusion. A transient decrease serum phosphate concentrations is frequent side effect FCM.To characterize this adverse event search for its predictors gastroenterology clinic patient cohort.Electronic medical records patients attending the University Hospital Innsbruck were searched keywords ferric or isomaltoside. Eighty-one with documented...

Background. Platelets were recently identified as a part of innate immunity. They are activated by contact with Aspergillus fumigatus; putative consequences include antifungal defense but also thrombosis, excessive inflammation, and thrombocytopenia. We aimed to identify those fungal surface structures that mediate interaction platelets. Methods. Human platelets incubated conidia hyphae, isolated wall components, or mutants. Interaction was visualized microscopically; activation quantified...

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Evidence points towards an unfavorable cardiovascular risk profile former preterm infants in adolescence and adulthood. The aim this study was to determine whether predictors are detectable very at a preschool age. Five- seven-year-old children born <32 weeks' gestational age were included study. Same-aged term served as controls. Basic data participants collected by means follow-up databases standardized questionnaires. At...

In major bleeding events, the new direct oral anticoagulants pose a great challenge for physicians. The aim of study was to test ex vivo reversal anticoagulant rivaroxaban with various non-specific agents: prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC), activated (aPCC), recombinant factor VII (rFVIIa), and fibrinogen (FI).Blood obtained from healthy volunteers patients treated rivaroxaban. Blood samples were spiked correlation between concentration coagulation tests. Patient blood concentrations...

MSforID represents a database of tandem mass spectral data obtained from (quasi‐)molecular ions produced by atmospheric pressure ionization methods. At the current stage development library contains 12 122 spectra 1208 small (bio‐)organic molecules. The present work was aimed to evaluate performance in terms accuracy and transferability with collection fragment ion various compounds acquired on multiple instruments. A literature survey conducted collect set sample spectra. total number 554...

Introduction . The aim of the present study was to investigate whether a 12-hour exposure in normobaric hypoxic chamber would induce changes hemostatic system and procoagulant state volunteers suffering from acute mountain sickness (AMS) healthy controls. Materials Methods 37 participants were passively exposed 12.6% FiO 2 (simulated altitude hypoxia 4,500 m). AMS development investigated by Lake Louise Score (LLS). Prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin fibrinogen, platelet...

The treatment of intracranial aneurysms may be associated with cerebral ischemia. We hypothesize that pre-interventional remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) reduces tissue damage in patients undergoing elective aneurysm treatment. This study is a single-center, prospective, randomized, double-blind explorative trial. Patients an unruptured admitted to Innsbruck Medical University Hospital for coiling or clipping will consecutively randomized either the intervention group (= RIPC by...

We present here the first known case of successful immune tolerance induction (ITI) using recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII), turoctocog alfa, in a patient with severe haemophilia A. The 38-year-old long-standing inhibitor required urgent surgery for arthropathy. rFVIII was administered throughout surgical period. Surgery considered successful, but on day 7 after surgery, an increased level FVIII inhibitors were detected. ITI attempted immediately thereafter according to Bonn protocol....

Summary This is a report of novel fibrinogen point mutation (fibrinogen Innsbruck), C/G at position 220 exon two the B|-chain leading to B|3Arg44Gly. The heterozygous was found in 16-year-old adolescent, hospitalized for management juvenile depression, who suffered from multiple epistaxis episodes during his stay university hospital Innsbruck, Austria. Fibrinogen (based on Clauss method) and antigen levels were highly discrepant (86 vs. 223 mg/dl) with thrombin time reptilase being...

Ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) and iron isomaltoside 1000 (IIM) allow complete correction of deficiency in a single infusion. Recent reports have raised concerns that substitution with FCM can induce hypophosphatemia. Gastroenterology clinic patients are at risk hypophosphatemia due to malabsorption or vitamin D frequently treated high-dose intravenous iron.
