Abstract Background and Aims High-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection—a well-established risk factor for cervical cancer—has associations with cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, its relationship CVD mortality remains uncertain. This study examined the between HR-HPV infection mortality. Methods As part of a health examination, 163 250 CVD-free Korean women (mean age: 40.2 years) underwent screening were tracked up to 17 years (median: 8.6 years). National death records...
Abstract Background Bladder cancer (BC) is one of the most common malignancies urinary tract. The role transient receptor potential melastatin 7 (TRPM7) in BC remains unclear. aim this study was to investigate function and signal transduction pathway TRPM7 BC. Methods T24 UMUC3 cells were used evaluate molecular mechanism by immunoblot analysis. Small interfering RNA knockdown TRPM7, effect silencing studied wound healing, migration, invasion assays cells. Xenograft model obtained analyze...
Abstract BACKGROUND: High-fat diet-induced obesity is one of the major cause chronic renal failure. This obesity-related failure mainly caused by inflammatory processes. However, role anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-10 has not been researched intensively. METHODS: To evaluate effect IL-10 deficiency on failure, in vivo study was carried with four animal groups; (1) Low-fat dieted C57BL/6 mice, (2) knockout (KO) (3) High‐fat mice and (4) KO group. The analysis blood/urine...
Abstract Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been used as an adjunct therapy for psychiatric disorders; however, little is known about the underlying neurophysiological effects of tDCS in Internet gaming disorder (IGD). We investigated on cortical activity using resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) patients with IGD. This randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled parallel group study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03347643) included 31 IGD patients. Participants received 10...
The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity parameters conventional white-light endoscopy and magnifying with narrow-band imaging (MENBI) for prediction discrepancies between pre- post-resectional histology in cases gastric adenoma low-grade dysplasia (LGD) that were diagnosed based on endoscopically biopsied specimens. The medical records 266 lesions LGD by endoscopic forceps biopsies retrospectively reviewed. Vienna classification used histologic diagnosis. These patients all...
This study aimed to evaluate the macroscopic and microscopic peritoneal findings after intraperitoneal injection of alcohol in rats. From January February 2012, 20 male rats were used this study: 15 received 0.1 mL 99.9% (group 1: experiment group) 5 normal saline 2: control group). Animals from each group sacrificed day week thereafter. Macroscopic examinations peritonea abdominal cavity performed rat. There was no significant abnormality on view, except for a whitish-colored parietal...
REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a characterized by loss of normal voluntary muscle atonia during associated with complex motor while dreaming. Dream-enacting behaviors can also occur in patients other disorders such as obstructive apnea (OSA). This clinical situation has been termed âpseudo-RBDâ. In contrast, OSA causes frequent arousal, which may consequently result masking RBD symptoms. We reported two severe OSA, who were initially diagnosed âpseudo-RBDâ but on continuous...
Children with complex chronic conditions (CCC) are presumed to be vulnerable adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The clinical profiles of ADRs in CCC not well known. Herein, we aim describe the ADR regard typical presentations and groups. We accessed yearly reports at a tertiary children's hospital whose practice is mainly dedicated descriptively analyzed their according presence condition, severity, age A total 1841 cases were analyzed, among which 1258 (68.3%) mild, 493 (26.8%) moderate, 90...
Background Tissue engineering can be used for bladder augmentation. However, conventional scaffolds result in fibrosis and graft shrinkage. This study applied an alternative polycaprolactone (PCL)-based scaffold (diameter = 5 mm) with a noble gradient structure growth factors (GFs) (epidermal factor, vascular endothelial basic fibroblast factor) to enhance tissue regeneration rat model. Methods Partially excised urinary bladders of 5-week-old male Slc:SD rats were reconstructed the (scaffold...
This study investigated the characteristics of neural oscillation and functional connectivity (FC) in college students engaging binge drinking (BD) using resting-state electroencephalography (EEG). Also, associations visual memory, evaluated by Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test (RCFT), with FC during resting state were investigated. The BD ( n = 35) non-BD groups selected based on scores Korean version Alcohol use disorders (AUDs) Identification Use Questionnaire. EEG was performed for 6...
Background and Aim . Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, caused by acute kidney damage, causes histopathological alterations, tubule cell apoptosis, inflammation, oxidation, the loss of renal function. We evaluated protective effects against I/R injury beluga lentil pretreatment. Materials Methods Mice were divided into four groups: normal, untreated, low‐ (2 mg), high‐dose (8 mg) treatment groups. Beluga was orally administered for 2 weeks, followed bilateral ischemia 20 min reperfusion 30...
A patient who has multiple lung masses with a history of malignancy in organs other than the is more likely to be diagnosed metastatic rather primary cancer. Rarely, cancer can coexist primary. We experienced case concurrent diagnosis small cell and pulmonary metastasis uterine malignant mixed Müllerian tumor (MMMT). The was 52-year-old female femur fracture an operation for MMMT. by bronchoscopic biopsy. central mass decreased after chemotherapy but peripheral increased. percutaneous...
Background: Testicular torsion is a urologic emergency that can lead to testicular atrophy and infertility owing ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). The aim of this study was evaluate the long-term protective effect tadalafil, phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor used treat erectile dysfunction, on spermatogenesis in rat model IRI. Methods: Forty-eight adolescent Sprague–Dawley rats were divided into six groups 8 each (A–F). Sham operation performed group A. Group B underwent surgical 720∘ left...
Autism is a life-long neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by qualitative abnormalities in reciprocal social interactions and patterns of communication. Patients with autism are difficult to manage during dental treatment. Thus they need special consideration like physical restraint, conscious sedation or general anesthesia. A 5-year-old male patient was reffered treatment under using intramuscular midazolam that creats anterograde amnesia. Dental procedure midazolm which cause amnesia...
Abstract Background No cohort studies have evaluated the effect of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on risk herpes zoster. We investigated association HBV with development Methods performed a study 224,691 non-cirrhotic adult men and women free zoster at baseline who underwent serologic testing for surface antigen (HBsAg) were followed annually or biennially median 4.2 years. Incident cases ascertained using Korean Health Insurance Review Agency (HIRA) database. A Cox proportional hazard...
Hairy polyps are rare congenital benign masses of the head and neck. They mainly occur in nasopharynx oropharynx. This paper reports a 12-month-old female patient who had 0.5-cm sausage-shaped mass left nasal vestibule with obstruction habitual nose-picking. lesion was surgically removed no complications under monitored anesthesia. There evidence recurrence through 24 months. To best our knowledge, this is first English literature report hairy polyp arising from vestibule.
