An efficient, copper-based catalyst has been discovered that oxidizes a wide range of alcohols into aldehydes and ketones under mild conditions. This catalytic system utilizes oxygen or air as the ultimate, stoichiometric oxidant, producing water only by-product.

Abstract Accurately identifying patients with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) who respond to poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor (PARPi) therapy is of great clinical importance. Here we show that quantitative BRCA1 methylation analysis provides new insight into PARPi response in preclinical models and cancer patients. The 12 HGSOC patient-derived xenografts (PDX) the rucaparib was assessed, variable dose-dependent responses observed chemo-naive BRCA1/2 -mutated PDX, no PDX...

An additive is the key to success: Catalytic amounts of N-methylimidazole are crucial for aerobic oxidation primary aliphatic alcohols in presence CuCl, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), and di-tert-butyl azodicarboxylate (DBAD). This reaction, under neutral conditions, yields aldehydes quantitatively selectively without overoxidation carboxylic acids.

Although ovarian cancer has a low incidence rate, it remains the most deadly gynecologic malignancy. Previous work demonstrated that DNMTi 5-Azacytidine (5AZA-C) activates type I interferon signaling to increase IFNγ+ T cells and natural killer (NK) reduce percentage of macrophages in tumor microenvironment. To improve efficacy epigenetic therapy, we hypothesized addition α-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO), an ornithine decarboxylase inhibitor, may further decrease immunosuppressive cell...

The aerobic copper-catalyzed oxidation of alcohols such as 1 [Eq. (1)] functions even in the absence oxygen. Non-benzylic and secondary are further suitable substrates. A key role this reaction is played by azocarboxylates, which not only serve complex ligands but also hydride acceptors; bulky R groups tert-butyl particularly suitable.

The frequency, in women with breast cancer, of mutations and other variants the susceptibility gene, BRCA1, was investigated using a population-based case-control-family study. Cases were living Melbourne or Sydney, Australia, histologically confirmed, first primary, invasive diagnosed before age 40 years, recorded on state Cancer Registries. Controls without frequency-matched for age, randomly selected from electoral rolls. Full manual sequencing coding region BRCA1 conducted stratified...

Hypothermia (HT) is used clinically for neonatal hypoxic–ischemic encephalopathy (HIE); however, the brain protection incomplete and selective regional vulnerability lifelong consequences remain. Refractory damage impairment with HT cooling/rewarming could result from unchecked or altered persisting cell death proteinopathy. We tested two hypotheses: (1) modifies neurodegeneration type, (2) intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) cause toxic conformer protein (TCP) proteinopathy neonatally....

Allosteric proteins demonstrate the phenomenon of a ligand binding to protein at regulatory or effector site and thereby changing chemical affinity catalytic site. As such, allostery is extremely important biologically as mechanism for molecular concentrations in many cellular processes. One particularly interesting feature that often sites are separated by large distance. Structural comparisons allosteric resolved both inactive active states indicate variety structural rearrangement changes...
