Emerging data suggest that urolithins, gut microbiota metabolites of ellagitannins, contribute toward multiple health benefits attributed to ellagitannin-rich foods, including walnuts, red raspberry, strawberry, and pomegranate. However, there is limited on whether the potential neuroprotective effects these foods are mediated by urolithins. Herein, we evaluated mechanisms antineuroinflammatory urolithins (urolithins A, B, C; 8-methyl-O-urolithin A; 8,9-dimethyl-O-urolithin C) in BV2 murine...
A nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) gene cluster (sfa) was identified in Streptomyces thioluteus to direct the biosynthesis of diisonitrile antibiotic SF2768. Its biosynthetic pathway reasonably proposed based on bioinformatics analysis, metabolic profiles mutants, and elucidation intermediate shunt product structures. Bioinformatics-based alignment found a putative ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter related iron import within cluster, which implied that might be siderophore....
Seven new 3,4,6-trisubstituted α-pyrone derivatives, violapyrones A–G (1–7), were isolated from Streptomyces violascens obtained Hylobates hoolock feces. Their structures elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis. The antimicrobial activities 1–7 evaluated against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria fungi. Compounds 1–3 showed moderate antibacterial Bacillus subtilis Staphylococcus aureus with MIC values 4–32 μg/mL.
Scope Published data support that gut microbiota play an important role in the pathological process of obesity and related metabolic disorders. In current study, it is investigated whether a standardized extract from Jamun ( Eugenia jambolana ), widely consumed tropical fruit, could alleviate alter microbial community high‐fat diet (HFD)‐fed mice. Methods results C57BL/6 mice are fed either standard (SD) or HFD with without fruit (JFE; 100 mg kg −1 day ) by oral gavage for 8 weeks. JFE...
From a fermentation broth of Streptomyces albolongus obtained from Elephas maximus feces, nine bafilomycins (1–9) and seven odoriferous sesquiterpenoids (10–16) were isolated. The structures the new compounds, including three bafilomycins, 19-methoxybafilomycin C1 amide (1), 21-deoxybafilomycin A1 (2), A2 (3), two sesquiterpenoid degradation products, (1β,4β,4aβ,8aα)-4,8a-dimethyloctahydronaphthalene-1,4a(2H)-diol (10) (1β,4β,4aβ,7α,8aα)-4,8a-dimethyloctahydronaphthalene-1,4a,7(2H)-triol...
Neuroinflammation is thought to be a cause of Alzheimer's disease (AD), which partly caused by inadequate mitophagy. As receptor mitophagy, we aimed reveal the regulatory roles optineurin (OPTN) on neuroinflammation in pathogenesis AD.BV2 cells and APP/PS1 transgenic (Tg) mice were used as vitro vivo experimental models determine OPTN AD. Sophisticated molecular technologies including quantitative (q) RT-PCR, western blot, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), co-immunoprecipitation...
Thirty compounds including 13 new phenolic glycosides (1-6, 9-15) and 17 known aromatic (7-8, 16-30) were isolated from the roots of Wrightia pubescens. The structures established by extensive NMR spectroscopic data analysis as well chemical derivatization method. evaluated for their hepatoprotective activities using cell model acetaminophen (APAP)-induced HepG2 cells. results indicated that (2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 13) pretreatment enhanced cells viability reduced levels aspartate...
Trimeric phthalides in nature are rarely reported. This research successfully isolated three novel trimeric phthalides, triangesinenolides A-C (1-3), from Angelica sinensis. These compounds, derived Z-ligustilide via diverse linkage patterns, display intricate polycyclic skeletons. Their structures were confirmed by spectroscopic and crystallographic analyses. Unlike previously identified triangesinenolide C (3) is the first phthalide synthesized [2 + 2]/[4 2] cycloaddition. In vitro assays...
In a continuing search for novel bioactive compounds from marine mangrove plants, seven new naphthoquinone derivatives were isolated Avicennia marina, namely, avicennone A (1), B (2), C (3), D (4), avicenone E (5), F (6), and G (7), along with the known avicequinone (8), stenocarpoquinone (9), (10), avicenol (11), (12). The chemical structures of 1-7 elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Compounds 8-10, mixture 4 5, which all contain 4,9-dione group, showed strong antiproliferative moderate...
Nine monoterpenoids from Radix Paeoniae Alba, including paeoniflorin derivatives, (PF), 4-O-methylpaeoniflorin (MPF), 4-O-methylbenzoylpaeoniflorin (MBPF); paeonidanin (PD), A (PDA), albiflorin (AF), benzoylalbiflorin (BAF), galloylalbiflorin (GAF), and debenzoylalbiflorin (DAF), were obtained in our previous phytochemistry investigations. Their anti-inflammatory effects determined the present study. The expression production of pro-inflammatory cytokines lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-stimulated...
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is reportedly associated with the accumulation of calcium ions (Ca2+), and this responsible for phosphorylation tau. Although several lines evidence demonstrate above phenomenon, inherent mechanisms remain unknown. Using APP/PS1 Tg mice neuroblastoma (N)2a cells as in vivo vitro experimental models, we observed that Ca2+ stimulated tau by activating microsomal PGE synthase 1 (mPGES1) a prostaglandin (PG) E2-dependent EP receptor-activating manner. Specifically,...
