Abstract BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) have multiple contributory factors and immunologic etiologies. Atopic (AD) occur frequently with IBD, AD severity is positively associated IBD development. Similar cytokine profiles are found in both include elevated TNFα IL-17, reduced IL-10. Whereas differences the gut microbiome noted diseases, previous studies did not assess compositional vs without AD. Hence, to identify key microbes that might contribute shared underlying immune...

Abstract Background Clinical and molecular subcategories of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are needed to discover mechanisms predictors response relapse. We aimed develop a study prospective adult research cohort with IBD (SPARC IBD) including longitudinal clinical patient-reported data biosamples. Methods established adults from geographically diverse sample patients across the United States standardized biosample collection methods processing techniques. At enrollment at time lower...

Fecal incontinence (FI) is frequently reported in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).We retrospectively reviewed data from the Study of a Prospective Adult Research Cohort with IBD registry.Three hundred forty-seven patients had Crohn and 145 ulcerative colitis. 14.2% FI. FI was associated active disease. not location, phenotype, or perianal involvement. Greater than 50 years age 15 increased odds remission decreased FI.Further research into mechanism needed.

Abstract Background Extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) are a common and debilitating feature disease, occurring in up to 40% patients with IBD, yet predicting who may develop them is difficult. The goal our study was better characterize which be at highest risk developing not only 1 EIM, but also multiple EIMs, across both diseases. Methods A retrospective participants enrolled the SPARC IBD (Study Prospective Adult Research Cohort IBD) registry...

When a bulging appendiceal orifice is observed during surveillance colonoscopy, the possibility of mucocele must be considered. Appendiceal rare group lesions characterized by mucinous distension lumen with dangerous potential to rupture, resulting in development pseudomyxoma peritonei. Early recognition and diagnosis can prevent dreaded complication peritonei but it requires high index suspicion. Abstract: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the two most common subtypes of inflammatory bowel disease. Most studies show that this patient population is increasing in incidence. Swallows with viscous or solid boluses in different body positions alter esophageal manometry patterns. Limitations of previous studies include lack standardized substrates and the need for chewing prior to swallowing boluses.
