A new type of breast carcinoma resembling the tall cell variant papillary thyroid has recently been described. To date, rare cases are on record. Here, 4 described in women aged from 45 to 80 years old. All patients presented with palpable nodules and were treated quadrantectomy. One patient a long clinical history metastatic intramammary lymph node. The is alive well 3 months after surgery. remaining disease free at mean 7.5 (range, 5 10 months) These data suggest that thyroid-like...

Aim: To establish the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in distinguishing between benign and malignant lipomatous tumors; to evaluate reproducibility MRI interpretation assessing agreement judgments two radiologists with same experience soft-tissue sarcomas; identify an association among findings (size, depth, septa, nodules, signal homogeneity) nature lesion. Materials Methods: A total 54 patients (28 men 26 women), a mean age 56 (range=27-84) were included years. All subjects...

This article sought to investigate the existence of parameters useful for predicting lymph node metastases in cases surgically resected oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCCs).Fifty-eight were studied E-cadherin and truncated dominant-negative isoform p63 (Delta Np63) with immunohistochemistry. In addition, gene expression profile was evaluated by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) disclose presence variant Delta Np73L.E-cadherin most powerful parameter related at...

Acral melanoma (AM) is a rare and aggressive subtype of affecting the palms, soles, nail apparatus with similar incidence among different ethnicities. AM unrelated to ultraviolet radiation has low mutation burden but frequent chromosomal rearrangements gene amplifications. Next generation sequencing 33 genes somatic copy number variation (CNV) analysis genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism arrays were performed in order molecularly characterize 48 primary AMs Italian patients...

Electrochemotherapy is an established treatment option for patients with superficially metastatic tumors, mainly malignant melanoma and breast cancer. Based on preliminary experiences, electrochemotherapy has the potential to be translated in of larger deeper neoplasms, such as soft tissue sarcomas. However, sarcomas are characterized by inhomogeneity and, consequently, variable electrical characteristic tumor tissue. The conductivity represents cause local variations electric field...

Deep cutaneous mycoses are fungal infections that affect the skin and its deeper layers, leading to significant morbidity if not promptly diagnosed treated. While dermatophytes, particularly Trichophyton rubrum mentagrophytes, most common causative agents, other fungi such as Candida spp., Aspergillus Fusarium spp. can also cause these infections, especially in immunocompromised individuals. The clinical presentation varies depending on depth extent of infection, ranging from superficial...

Tumor electroporation (EP) refers to the permeabilization of cell membrane by means short electric pulses thus allowing potentiation chemotherapeutic drugs. Standard plate adhesion 2D cultures can simulate in vivo environment only partially due lack cell-cell interaction and extracellular matrix (ECM). In this study, we assessed a novel 3D scaffold for based on hyaluronic acid ionic-complementary self-assembling peptides (SAPs), studying growth patterns two different breast carcinoma lines...

We report on the case of a 61-year-old man with soft tissue malignant myoepithelioma second toe right foot. After removal primary tumor, patient developed in-transit metastases limb that we later treated perfusion, using extracorporeal circulation complete response. Following appearance lymph node metastases, underwent inguinal, iliac and obturator lymphadenectomy. Subsequent pelvis were chemotherapy radiotherapy, Currently, after 3 years, is alive no evidence any residual disease apparent.

The presence of "crushing" artifacts in histological sections is a very common finding and represents potentially major pitfall for the surgical pathologist, particularly small biopsy specimens. Microscopically, it appears as bluish clusters which cellular details are not recognizable. Here authors report examples this phenomenon that have been reported or they personally observed emphasize some diagnostic clue to avoid its overinterpretation dire clinical consequences may entail.
