Abstract Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by a novel corinavirus (later named SARS-CoV-2 virus), was fistly reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China towards the end of 2019. Large-scale spread within and internationally led World Health Organization to declare Public Emergency International Concern on 30 th January 2020. The clinical manifestations COVID-19 virus infection include asymptomatic infection, mild upper respiratory symptoms, severe viral pneumonia with...

To identify the risk factors for developing renal involvement and severe kidney disease in Chinese childhood Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) patients. This was a retrospective study of 2731 children with HSP diagnosed between 2012 2015. We analyzed their demographic data, clinical manifestations, laboratory tests retrospectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis used to assess factors.Renal occurred 844 patients (35.60%), 104 (4.39%). Age over 6 years old at onset, colder season, more...

Abstract Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss, and reducing elevated intraocular pressure currently only effective clinical treatment. The trabecular meshwork main resistance site for aqueous outflow that maintains pressure. In this study, we transplanted human stem cells (TMSCs) intracamerally into mice received laser photocoagulation over a 180° arc meshwork. TMSCs preferentially homed integrated to laser-damaged region expressed differentiated cell markers at 2 4...

This study aims to evaluate the effects of Remifemin (isopropanolic extract Cimicifuga Racemosa) on postmenopausal osteoporosis. 120 female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned four groups: sham surgery with vehicle, ovariectomy estradiol valerate, or Remifemin. Daily oral administrations began 2 weeks after and lasted 4, 8, 12 weeks. Ten in each group sacrificed at timestep assessment bone mineral density, trabecular structure, biomechanical parameters femur lumbar vertebra. Bone...

Background Chest examination by auscultation is essential in patients with COVID-19, especially those poor respiratory conditions, such as severe pneumonia and dysfunction, intensive cases who are intubated whose breathing assisted a ventilator. However, proper of these difficult when medical workers wear personal protective equipment it necessary to minimize contact patients. Objective The objective our study was design develop low-cost electronic stethoscope enabling ear-contactless...

Positive surgical margins (PSMs) after radical prostatectomy (RP) can increase the risk of biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer (PCa) patients. However, prediction likelihood PSMs patients undergoing similar procedures remains a challenge. We aim to develop predictive model for non-nerve-sparing RP.

The standard of care for upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) traditionally involved open nephroureterectomy with bladder cuff excision. Despite the adoption transabdominal laparoscopic one-stage to mitigate this, persistently high rate postoperative intestinal obstruction remains a clinical challenge. This study introduces an innovative approach: single-position, completely retroperitoneal coupled 75–45-degree positional change resection in treatment UTUC. further evaluates efficacy this...

In the present study authors quantified degree of changes in dominant frequencies during ventricular fibrillation using Wigner transforms. They used auto-bispectra to quantify phase coupling between different rhythms. Results 427 trials 10 dogs showed substantial frequency modulation within ECGs, up /spl plusmn/14% from mean frequency. Bispectra were non-zero more than 99% (p<0.05) with peaks around (8.8 Hz). These results show that there is rhythms and these are coupled. It possible...

Traumatic brain injury is one of the leading causes and death in both developed developing countries. Animal models are important preclinical tools for level studies. In this study, a finite element (FE) model mouse was constructed to investigate biomechanical responses tissue during controlled cortical impact (CCI). Impact simulated with varying speeds angles. Computational results indicated that viscoelastic properties angle could greatly influence responses. Comparison experimental...

A 51-year-old female, who underwent routine transthoracic echocardiography prior to surgery for left adnexal cystic mass, had no previous heart-related disease or symptoms of cardiac discomfort. Transthoracic revealed a 3.0 × 2.5 cm moderate-echoic mass in the right ventricle with smooth surface (Panel A, see Supplementary material data, Video S1), which obvious mobility cycle and pedicle attached root septal leaflet tricuspid valve B, S2). These findings led suspicion myxoma. The was...

Background In cardiac myocytes in vitro, hydrogen peroxide induces autophagic cell death. Oxidative stress and myocyte autophagy co-exist heart failure. However, it remains unclear whether oxidative mediates pathological this study, we tested the hypothesis that antioxidants prevent pressure overload-induced Methods Heart failure was produced by chronic overload induced abdominal aortic constriction (AAC) rats. Rats with AAC or sham operation were randomized to orally receive an antioxidant...
