Multidrug resistant microbes present in the environment are a potential public health risk. In this study, we investigate presence of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) producing bacteria 99 water samples Beijing City, including river water, treated drinking raw from pools and sewage 4 comprehensive hospitals. For blaNDM-1 positive isolate, antimicrobial susceptibility testing was further analyzed, Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) performed to determine genetic relationship among...

Curcuma is a world-renowned herb known for its immense health benefits. In this study, physicochemical analyses were performed on the curcumin standard sample and multiple emulsions. The emulsions analysed thermal structural stability 21 days. Confocal laser microscopy (CLSM) was in order to observe emulsion encapsulation. Modulated differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC) HPLC methods revealed variety of curcuminoids (curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin, cyclocurcumin)...

Shigella flexneri serotype 2 variant (II:3,4,7,8) was isolated in 2008 and first reported China 2013. In the present study, epidemiological surveillance from 2003 to 2013 suggested that this appeared Guangxi 2003; it then emerged Shanghai Xinjiang 2004 Henan 2008. Of 1813 S. isolates, 58 strains were identified. Serotype has as a prominent recent years, with 2a (32.6%), X (25.2%), 1a (9.4%), (6.3%), 2b (5.4%), 1b (3.6%). According phenotypic genotypic analysis, originated 2b. A higher...

The emergence of carbapenemase-producing Citrobacter freundii poses a significant threat to public health worldwide. Here, we reported C. strain CWH001 which was resistant all tested antimicrobials except tetracycline. Whole genome sequencing and analysis were performed. strain, belonged new sequence type ST139, showed close relationship with other foreign strains through phylogenetic analysis. A novel variant the intrinsic blaCMY gene located on chromosome identified designated as...

Listeria monocytogenes is a significant foodborne pathogen causing severe systemic infections in humans with high mortality rates. The objectives of this work were to establish phylogenetic framework L. from China and investigate sequence diversity among different serotypes. We selected 17 strains recovered patients foods representing serotypes 1/2a, 1/2b, 1/2c. Draft genome sequences determined using Illumina MiSeq technique associated protocols. Open reading frames assigned prokaryotic...

Here, we report for the first time a waterborne outbreak of Shigella sonnei in China 2015. Eleven multidrug-resistant (MDR) S. isolates were recovered, showing high resistance to azithromycin and third-generation cephalosporins particular, due an mph(A)- blaCTX-M-14-harboring IncB/O/K/Z group transmissible plasmid 104,285 kb size. Our study highlights potential prevalence MDR its further dissemination worldwide with development globalization.

Abstract To conduct the first comprehensive analysis of Shigella flexneri serotype 4s, a novel found in 2010, we identified 24 4s isolates from 1973 shigellosis cases China (2002–2014). The were characterized by single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) phylogenetic analysis, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST) to determine their genetic relatedness analysed further for antimicrobial susceptibilities resistance determinants. PFGE SNP analyses suggest that...

Since the gene encoding mobilised colistin resistance (mcr-1) was first reported in China 2015, it has been various Enterobacteriaceae worldwide. Escherichia coli, one of main pathogens causing diarrhoea, is most prevalent, clinically identified species carrying mcr-1. This study aimed to investigate epidemiologic and genomic characteristics mcr-1 coli from patients Shanghai.Faecal samples were collected hospitals Shanghai between 2012 2015. Rapid and accurate etiologic diagnosis accelerates targeted antimicrobial therapy. Metagenomic analysis has played a critical role in pathogen identification. In this study, we leveraged the advantages of both MinION BGISEQ-500 platforms to make bacteriologic from culture-negative lung tissue sample an immunocompromised patient with severe pneumonia. Real-time nanopore sequencing rapidly identified Klebsiella pneumoniae by 823bp specific sequence within 1 minute. Genomic further...

Shigella flexneri serotype 1b is among the most prominent serotypes in developing countries, followed by 2a. However, only limited data available on global phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of S. 1b.
