Thymosin beta 4, recently isolated from calf thymus, is present in a number of rat and mouse tissues, including spleen, brain, lung, liver, heart muscle. High concentrations are found peritoneal macrophages, suggesting that its occurrence other tissues may be related to the presence macrophages or macrophage-like cells these tissues. The conclusion "thymosin" 4 does not originate solely thymus gland supported by high athymic (nu/nu) mice.

Prolonged myocardial ischemia results in cardiomyocyte loss despite successful revascularization. We have reported that retrograde application of embryonic endothelial progenitor cells (eEPCs) provides rapid paracrine protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury. Here, we investigated the role thymosin beta4 (Tbeta4) as a mediator eEPC-mediated cardioprotection. In vitro, neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were subjected to hypoxia-reoxygenation absence or presence eEPCs with without Tbeta4 short...

Introduction: Thymosin β4, a low molecular weight, naturally-occurring peptide plays vital role in the repair and regeneration of injured cells tissues. After injury, thymosin is released by platelets, macrophages many other cell types to protect tissues from further damage reduce apoptosis, inflammation microbial growth. β4 binds actin promotes migration, including mobilization, differentiation stem/progenitor cells, which form new blood vessels regenerate tissue. also decreases number...

It is shown that AcSDKP a new regulator of the hematopoietic system can he generated from thymosin β 4 by one‐step enzymatic cleavage in vitro and vivo. Tβ were both detected bone marrow cells (BMC'). Incubation [ 3 H]Tβ with either intact or lysed BMC led to formation H]AcSDKP whereas labelled tetrapeptide was not degraded under these conditions. Model degradation carried out bacterial enzymes suggests mammalian endoproteinase Asp‐N might be involved through specific Pro‐ 5 Asp peptide bond T .

Thymosin β4 (Tβ4) was extracted forty years agofrom calf thymus. Since then, it has been identified as a G-actin binding protein involved in blood clotting, tissue regeneration, angiogenesis, and anti-inflammatory processes. Tβ4 also implicated tumor metastasis neurodegeneration. However, the precise roles mechanism(s) of action these processes remain largely unknown, with being insufficient to explain multi-actions. Here we identify for first time important role mechanism ferroptosis, an...

The beta-thymosins constitute a family of highly conserved and extremely water-soluble 5 kDa polypeptides. Thymosin beta4 is the most abundant member; it expressed in cell types regarded as main intracellular G-actin sequestering peptide.
