MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important factors during tumorigenesis by affecting posttranscriptional gene expression. miRNA 204 (miR-204) is a frequently investigated in different types of cancers. According to literature, autophagy has dual roles cancer, acting as both tumor suppressor and cell survival agent. Also, the current data suggests that activated human colorectal cancer cells enhances aggressiveness cells. So, our aim investigate potential effect miR-204-5p on associating its expression...
Background: Inoperable and metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is associated with a poor prognosis low chemotherapeutic efficiency. Sorafenib an oral multi-kinase inhibitor exerting its effects via the RAF/MEK/ERK pathway, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) platelet derived beta (PDGFR-<TEX>${\beta}$</TEX>) tyrosine kinases. Randomized studies have shown significant contribution of sorafenib to life expectancy quality cancer patients. The aim present study evaluate...
Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) are rare malignant tumors of embryogenic mesoderm origin. Primary thoracic STSs account for a small percentage all and limited published information is available. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors evaluate disease's clinical outcomes. The medical records 109 patients with who were treated between 2003 2013 retrospectively reviewed. Patients' survival rates analyzed potential evaluated. The median follow-up period was 29 months (range: 1-121...
Gastrointestinal lymphoma is the most common type of extranodal and commonly involved site stomach. We have compared superiority between treatment modalities for primary gastric we want to investigate efficacy rituximab in lymphoma.Between April 2002 December 2011, 146 patients with a histologically confirmed lymphoma, initially diagnosed at eight different Cancer Centers within Turkey were evaluated retrospectively. According modality, divided into chemotherapy (CT) alone, radiotherapy...
We investigated the impact of modern chemotherapy regimens and bevacizumab following pulmonary metastasectomy (PM) from metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC).A total 122 consecutive patients who were curatively resected for metastases CRC in twelve oncology centers retrospectively analysed between January 2000 April 2012.Of patients, 14 did not receive any treatment PM. The remaining 108 received fluoropyrimidine-based (n = 12), irinotecan-based 56) oxaliplatin-based 40) combinations. Among...
Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET CT) scan is commonly used in current medical oncology practice as an imaging method. In this study we present data from cancer patients who were followed at our clinic and suspected of having tuberculosis during PET CT scanning. After the biopsy, they diagnosed with concomitant tuberculosis. In study, 14 applied to up due cancer, had scanning for preliminary staging or further evaluation, included. The metastatic recurrent disease, their...
The most common metastatic sites of colorectal cancer are liver, lung, peritoneum and lymph nodes. Metastasis carcinoma to palatine tonsil is rarely seen. To our knowledge, only 11 patients were documented in English literature. Atypical metastases can sometimes lead misdiagnosis. Precise diagnosis atypical requires a careful physical examination, good imaging method comprehensive pathological evaluation. Here, we report case rectal adenocarcinoma presented with metastasis.
Background: The objective of this study was to identify prognostic factors affecting the recurrence-free survival (RFS) in patients who received a 52-week trastuzumab therapy for HER2-positive early stage breast cancer (EBC). Patients and Methods: medical records all with EBC from 10 centers were analyzed. Pathologic clinical tumor characteristics evaluated 424 female 52 weeks adjuvant EBC. Survival estimated using...
We examined the impact of adjuvant modalities on resected pancreatic and periampullary adenocarcinoma (PAC).A total 563 patients who were curatively for PAC retrospectively analyzed between 2003 2013.Of patients, 472 received chemotherapy (CT) alone, chemoradiotherapy (CRT) plus (CRT-CT) analyzed. Of 231 given CRT-CT, 26 CRT, 215 CT. The median recurrence-free survival (RFS) overall (OS) 12 19 months, respectively. When CT CRT-CT groups compared, there was no significant difference with...
To analyze clinicopathological characteristics, prognostic factors and survival rates of the patients with urological soft tissue sarcomas treated followed up in Turkey. For overall analyses Kaplan-Meier method was used. From medical records, nine on were analysed. For 53 (34 males, 19 females) whose charts reviewed, median age (range 22 to 83) years. Most frequently renal location (n=30; 56.6%) evident leiomyosarcoma (n=20, 37.7%) most encountered histological type. Median time all 40.3 (95%...
Background: Biliary tract cancers are rare, and surgical resection is the standard treatment at early stages. However, reports on benefits of adjuvant following conflicting. This study aimed to evaluate factors affecting survival treatments in patients with surgically treated biliary cancers. Materials Methods: Patient clinical features, treatments, efficacy prognostic factor data were evaluated. Survival analyses performed using SPSS 15.0. Results: The median overall was 30.7 months (95%...
