Deaths in HIV-positive people have decreased since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) 1996. Fewer AIDS-related deaths and an ageing cohort resulted increase proportion HIV patients dying from non-AIDS-related disorders. Here we describe mortality causes death diagnosed with HAART era compared general population. In this observational analysis, linked data collected by Public Health England (PHE) for individuals aged 15 years older, Wales 1997 to 2012, Office...

Using electronic health records, we assessed the early impact of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on routine childhood vaccination in England by 26 April 2020. Measles-mumps-rubella counts fell from February 2020, and 3 weeks after introduction physical distancing measures were 19.8% lower (95% confidence interval: -20.7 to -18.9) than same period 2019, before improving mid-April. A gradual decline hexavalent throughout 2020 was not accentuated distancing.

The BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine showed high efficacy in clinical trials but observational data from populations not included are needed. We describe immunogenicity 21 days post-dose 1 among 514 Israeli healthcare workers by age, ethnicity, sex and prior infection. Immunogenicity was similar ethnicity decreased with age. Those infection had antibody titres one magnitude order higher than naïve individuals regardless of the presence detectable IgG antibodies pre-vaccination.

In September 2015, the United Kingdom introduced multicomponent meningococcal group B vaccine (4CMenB, Bexsero) into its publicly funded national immunization program at a reduced two-dose priming schedule for infants, with 12-month booster.

Abstract The effectiveness of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines against the long-term COVID-19 symptoms expressed by a substantial proportion patients is not well understood. We determined whether vaccination with BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine was associated incidence reporting post-SARS-CoV-2 infection. invited individuals PCR-tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection at participating hospitals between March 2020 and November 2021 to fill an online questionnaire that included information about...

Abstract Background Long COVID is a post-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection characterised by not recovering for several weeks or months following the episode. The effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines against long-term symptoms well understood. We determined whether vaccination was associated with incidence reporting post-SARS-CoV-2 Methods invited individuals who were PCR tested SARS-CoV-2 at participating hospitals between March 2020-November 2021 to fill...

Studies have demonstrated a potential correlation between low vitamin D status and both an increased risk of infection with SARS-CoV-2 poorer clinical outcomes. This retrospective study examines if, to what degree, relationship exists pre-infection serum 25-hydroxyvitamin (25(OH)D) level disease severity mortality due SARS-CoV-2.The records individuals admitted April 7th, 2020 February 4th, 2021 the Galilee Medical Center (GMC) in Nahariya, Israel, positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR)...

Between 1 June 2016 and 31 May 2017, 17 European Union (EU) Economic Area countries reported 4,096 cases associated with a multi-country hepatitis A (HA) outbreak. Molecular analysis identified three co-circulating virus (HAV) strains of genotype IA: VRD_521_2016, V16–25801 RIVM-HAV16–090. We categorised as confirmed, probable or possible, according to the EU outbreak case definitions. Confirmed were infected one strains. investigated characteristics strain-specific risk factors for...
