Therapeutic options for patients with malignant pheochromocytoma are currently limited, and therefore new treatment approaches being sought. Targeted radionuclide therapy provides tumor-specific systemic treatments. The β-emitting radiopharmaceutical meta-131I-iodo-benzylguanidine (131I-MIBG) limited survival benefits has adverse effects. A generation of radionuclides using α-particles including meta-211At-astato-benzylguanidine (211At-MABG) expected to have strong therapeutic effects...

The high in vivo stability of 2,2-dihydroxymethyl-3-[18F]fluoropropyl-2-nitroimidazole ([18F]DiFA) prompted us to evaluate neopentyl as a scaffold prepare radiotheranostic system with radioiodine and astatine. Three DiFA analogues one, two, or without hydroxyl group were synthesized. While all 125I-labeled compounds remained stable against nucleophilic substitution, only glycol was cytochrome P450 (CYP)-mediated metabolism showed deiodination. 211At-labeled also both substitution...

Abstract Purpose Patients who develop metastatic melanoma have a very poor prognosis, and new treatments are needed to improve the response rates. Melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) is promising target for radionuclide therapy of melanoma, alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) peptide analogs show high affinities MC1Rs. Because targeted alpha (TAT) can be desirable treatment this study aimed an 211 At-labeled α-MSH analog TAT melanoma. Methods We designed labeled with At using neopentyl...

A “wet chemistry” approach for isolation of 211At from an irradiated bismuth target is described. The involves five steps: (1) dissolution in conc. HNO3; (2) removal the HNO3 by distillation; (3) residue 8 M HCl; (4) extraction HCl into DIPE; and (5) DIPE NaOH. Results 55 “optimized” runs gave recovery yields approximately 78% after decay attenuation corrections. An attenuation-corrected average 26 ± 3 mCi provided isolated (actual) 16 211At. sixth step, used purification trace metals, was...

Non‐small cell lung carcinomas (NSCLC) overexpress the Her2/neu gene in approximately 59% of cases. Trastuzumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody, interferes with Her2 signaling and is approved for treatment overexpressing breast cancer. However, its therapeutic use NSCLC remains obscure. The present study aimed to determine role 64 Cu‐labeled trastuzumab positron emission tomography (PET) non‐invasive imaging expression NSCLC. Trastuzumab was conjugated bifunctional chelator 1, 4, 7,...

Whistler observations at Okinawa (geomagnetic latitude 15.3°N), Japan, have been carried out as one of the IMS projects since October 1974. Whistlers and their echoes following Eckersley's law observed mainly during winter night. The diurnal variation whistler occurrence has no evening peak, while that mid‐latitudes an evident peak. This may be due to D region absorption resulting from late sunset in subtropical region, a lack field‐aligned ducts, by ion‐electron Coulomb collision...

Radiolabeled amino acids are superior PET tracers for the imaging of malignant tumors, and labeled with 76Br, an attractive positron emitter because its relatively long half-life (16.2 h), could potentially be a widely usable tumor tracer. In this study, in consideration stability specificity, we designed two 76Br-labeled acid derivatives, 2-76Br-bromo-α-methyl-l-phenylalanine (2-76Br-BAMP) 4-76Br-bromo-α-methyl-l-phenylalanine...

<i>Meta</i>-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) labeled with 123I or 131I has been widely used for the diagnosis and radiotherapy of norepinephrine transporter (NET)–expressing tumors.
