Background: Peripheral nerve block is a preferable method for elderly patients receiving hip arthroplasty. Sedation with dexmedetomidine may reduce postoperative delirium (POD). The aim of this study was to investigate whether intraoperative sedation dexmedetomidine, as supplementary peripheral total arthroplasty, can decrease the prevalence POD. Methods: A prospective, randomized controlled conducted 65 years age or older who underwent arthroplasty between June 2016 and 2017. were randomly...

Background Dexmedetomidine has repeatedly shown to improve anxiety, but the precise neural mechanisms underlying this effect remain incompletely understood. This study aims explore role of corticotropin-releasing hormone–producing hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (CRH PVN ) neurons in mediating anxiolytic effects dexmedetomidine. Methods A social defeat stress mouse model was used evaluate induced by dexmedetomidine through elevated plus maze, open-field test, and measurement serum...

Abstract Prenatal morphine exposure induces neurobiological changes, including deficits in learning and memory, juvenile rat offspring. However the effects of this on hippocampal plasticity, which is critical for memory processes, are not well understood. The present study investigates alterations spatial vivo synaptic plasticity rats prenatally exposed to morphine. On gestation days 11–18, pregnant were randomly chosen be injected twice daily with or saline. Each offspring (postnatal day...

Herein, we report a new "On–On" strategy based on the assembly and disassembly of fluorescein isothiocyanate nanoparticles (FITC-NPs) for sequential detections glutathione (GSH) caspase-3 (Casp3) with multifunctional fluorescent probe 1. Theoretical investigations revealed underlying mechanism that satisfactorily explained experimental results such consecutive enhancements fluorescence. Using this probe, also successfully imaged Casp3 activity in apoptotic cells.

Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common form of postoperative brain dysfunction, especially in the elderly. However, its risk factors remain largely to be determined. This study aimed investigate whether (1) preoperative diabetes associated with POD after elective orthopedic surgery and (2) intraoperative frontal alpha power mediator association between POD.

A radioactive probe (1) has been developed and applied to a condensation reaction self-assembly of nanoparticles (i.e., 125I-NPs) intracellularly. Upon 160 min cellular efflux, the radioactivity retained in cells incubated with 1 was 4-fold more higher than that those treated scrambled control (1-Scr).

A simple new model of the spatial distribution liquid temperature near a cavitation bubble wall (Tli) is employed to numerically calculate Tli. The result shows that Tli almost same with ambient (T0) during oscillations except at strong collapse. At collapse, can increase about 1510 K, order magnitude maximum inside bubble, which means chemical reactions occur not only in gas-phase collapsing but also liquid-phase just outside bubble. Four factors (ultrasonic vibration amplitude, ultrasonic...

Asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis can lead to not only stroke but also cognition impairment. Although it has been proven that stenting (CAS) reduce the risk of future strokes, effect CAS on is conflicting. In recent years, pulsed arterial spin labeling (pASL) MRI and resting-state functional (R-fMRI) have employed in cognitive impairment studies. For present study, evaluated severe asymptomatic patients undergoing CAS, mechanisms underlying change are explored by pASL R-fMRI.We...

Using N-(2-Aminoethyl)maleimide-cysteine(StBu) (Mal-Cys) as a medium, protein thiols were converted into N-terminal cysteines. After biocompatible condensation reaction between the cysteine and fluorescent probe 2-cyanobenzothiazole-Gly-Gly-Gly-fluorescein isothiocyanate (CBT-GGG-FITC), new fluorogenic structure Luciferin-GGG-FITC was obtained. The latter exhibits near one order of magnitude (7 folds) enhanced fluorescence emission compared to precursor moiety due resonance energy transfer...

Purpose: The prognosis of patients with huge hepatocellular carcinoma (huge HCC, diameter ≥ 10 cm) is poor owing to the high early recurrence rate. This study aimed explore clinical value postoperative adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (PA-TACE) plus programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors for HCC.
