We have searched for evidence of top quark production in pp¯ collisions at √s =1.8 TeV using the D0 detector Fermilab Tevatron collider. For an integrated luminosity 15 pb−1, we report results a search tt¯ pairs decay modes tt¯→eμ+jets,ee+jets,e+jets, and μ+jets. From analyses these obtain lower limit on mass 131 GeV/c2 95% confidence level, assuming standard model branching fractions predicted cross section production. discuss properties event which expected backgrounds are small.Received 4...
The Mayak Worker Dosimetry System (MWDS-2013) is a system for interpreting measurement data from workers both internal and external sources. This paper concerned with the calculation of annual organ doses exposed to plutonium aerosols, where consists mainly activity in urine samples. utilises latest biokinetic dosimetric models, unlike its predecessors, takes explicit account uncertainties model parameters. aim this describe complete MWDS-2013 (including parameter values their uncertainties)...
Currently, the most common methods to measure activity of transuranium elements in biological samples are alpha radiometry and spectrometry. Of these, spectrometry is sensitive selective method. However, this method not sufficiently control hardly soluble compounds plutonium human body. For example, upon an intake at level annual limit intake, a year later, Pu daily urine sample expected be 0.4 mBq. Since lower measurement about 0.5 mBq, during first 2 years as minimum, workers who have...
Using a sample of $2.6\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}B\overline{B}$ events collected with the CLEO II detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured form factors for ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{*+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}$. We perform three-parameter fit joint distribution four kinematic variables to obtain form-factor ratios...
Using the CLEO detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have made a measurement of R=sigma(e+e- ->hadrons)/sigma(e+e- ->mu+mu-) =3.56+/-0.01+/-0.07 ECM=10.52 GeV. This implies value for strong coupling constant alpha_s(10.52 GeV)=0.20+/-0.01+/-0.06, or alpha_s(M_Z)=0.13+/-0.005+/-0.03.
We have measured the branching fractions for B -> D_bar X, D and X \ell^+ \nu, where ``B'' is an average over B^0 B^+, ``D'' a sum D^0 D^+, and``D_bar'' D^0_bar D^-. From these results some previously fractions, we obtain Br(b c c_bar s) = (21.9 $\pm$ 3.7)%, s g) < 6.8% @ 90% c.l, Br(D^0 K^- \pi^+) (3.69 0.20)%. Implications ``B semileptonic decay problem'' (measured fraction being below theoretical expectations) are discussed. The increase in value of due to $B X$ eliminates 40% discrepancy.
First experimental results are presented from a search for events with rapidity gap between jets. The D0 detector was used to examine produced by the Fermilab Tevatron pp\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} collider at \ensuremath{\surd}s =1.8 TeV. fraction of an observed two highest transverse energy (${\mathit{E}}_{\mathit{T}}$) jets is measured as function pseudorapidity separation jet edges (\ensuremath{\Delta}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\eta}}}_{\mathit{c}}$). An upper limit 95% confidence...
Using data recorded by the CLEO II detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report first observation of an excited charmed baryon decaying into Ξ0cπ+. The state has mass difference M(Ξ0cπ+)−M(Ξ0c) 174.3±0.5±1.0MeV/c2, and a width <3.1MeV/c2 (90% confidence level limit). We identify new as Ξ*+c, isospin partner recently discovered Ξ*0c.Received 1 March 1996DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.77.810©1996 American Physical Society
The workers at the Mayak nuclear facility near Ozyorsk, Russia are a primary source of information about exposure to radiation low-dose rates, since they were subject protracted exposures external gamma rays and internal from plutonium inhalation. Here we re-examine lung cancer mortality rates assess effects using recently developed Monte Carlo dosimetry systems. Using individual lagged mean annual doses computed dose realizations, fit excess relative risk (ERR) models data for Workers...
We have searched for two-body charmless decays of B mesons to purely hadronic exclusive final states including $\omega$ or $\phi$ using data collected with the CLEO II detector. With this sample $6.6 \times 10^6$ we observe a signal $\omega K^+$ state, and measure branching fraction B($B^+ \to \omega K^+$) = 1.5 +0.7 -0.6 +-0.2 $\times 10^{-5}$. also some evidence $\phi K^*$ upper limits are given 22 other decay modes. These results provide opportunity studies theoretical models physical parameters.
Using data taken with the CLEO II detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we present first full angular analysis in color-suppressed modes B0→J/ψK*0 and B+→J/ψK*+. This leads to a complete determination of decay amplitudes these including longitudinal polarization γL/γ=0.52±0.07±0.04 P wave component |P|2=0.16±0.08±0.04. In addition, update branching fractions for B→J/ψK B→J/ψK∗.Received 24 February 1997DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.79.4533©1997 American Physical Society
We report the first observation of $B\to \eta' X$ transitions with high momentum $\eta'$ mesons. observe $39.0\pm 11.6$ B decay events $2.0< p_{\eta'} < 2.7$ GeV/c, region where background from $b\to c$ processes is suppressed. discuss physical interpretation signal, including possibility that it due to s g^*$ transitions. Given interpretation, we find ${\cal B}(B\to X_s) = (6.2 \pm 1.6(stat) 1.3(sys)^{+0.0}_{-1.5}(bkg))\times 10^{-4} $ for $2.0<p_{\eta'}<2.7$ GeV/c.
We report on a search for first generation leptoquarks with the DO/ detector at Fermilab Tevatron pp\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} collider \ensuremath{\surd}s =1.8 TeV. This is based 15 ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ of data. Leptoquarks are assumed to be produced in pairs and decay into an electron + quark branching ratio \ensuremath{\beta}. No leptoquark candidates were found. obtain cross section times limits as function mass. For pair production scalar leptoquarks,...
We have searched for the effective FCNC decays b->s l+l- using an inclusive method. set upper limits on branching ratios B(b->s e+e-) < 5.7 10^{-5}, mu+mu-) 5.8 and e+-mu-+) 2.2 10^{-5} (at 90 %\ C.L.). Combining di-electron di-muon decay modes we find: l+l-) 4.2 %
Using data collected with the CLEO II detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have studied decays of τ leptons produced through e+e− annihilation into final states containing KS0 mesons, observed their to π+π−. We present branching fractions for five states: τ−→K0h−ντ, τ−→K0h−π0ντ, τ−→K0K−ντ, τ−→K0K−π0ντ, and τ−→KS0KS0h−ντ, where K0h− denotes sum processes involving K¯0π− K0K− particle combinations. Substructure mass spectra in these are also addressed.Received 10 January...
