Based on a sample corresponding to 4.3 million produced tau-pair events, we have studied hadronic dynamics in the decay tau- --> nu_tau pi- pi0 data recorded by CLEO II detector operating at CESR e+e- collider. The is dominated process tau a_1(1260), with a_1 meson decaying three pions predominantly via lowest dimensional (mainly S-wave) rho pi Born amplitude. From fits Dalitz plot and angular observables, find significant additional contributions from amplitudes for sigma pi, f_0(1370)...
Using data collected by the CLEO II detector, we have observed two states decaying to ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. Relative ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c}^{+}$, their mass splittings are measured be $+307.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.0$ and $+342.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5\mathrm{MeV}{/c}^{2}$, respectively; this represents first measurement of less massive state....
The resonant structure of the four pion final state in decay →τ3ππ0ντ has been analyzed using 4.27 million τ+τ− pairs collected by CLEO II experiment at Cornell Electron Storage Ring. RNO is the mid-scale discovery instrument designed to make first observation of neutrinos from cosmos at extreme energies, with sensitivity well beyond current capabilities. This new observatory will be largest ground-based neutrino telescope date, enabling measurement above $10^{16}$ eV, determining nature astrophysical flux that has been measured by IceCube higher similarly extending reach multi-messenger astrophysics highest and investigations fundamental physics energies unreachable...
In the pursuit of measurement still-elusive ultrahigh-energy (UHE) neutrino flux at energies order EeV, detectors using in-ice Askaryan radio technique have increasingly targeted lower trigger thresholds. This has led to improved trigger-level sensitivity UHE neutrinos. Working with data collected by Radio Array (ARA), we search for candidates lowest threshold achieved date, leading analysis-level sensitivities. A on a set 208.7~days livetime from reduced-threshold fifth ARA station is...
Over the last 25 years, radiowave detection of neutrino-generated signals, using cold polar ice as neutrino target, has emerged perhaps most promising technique for extragalactic ultra-high energy neutrinos (corresponding to energies in excess 0.01 Joules, or $10^{17}$ electron volts). During summer 2021 and tandem with initial deployment Radio Neutrino Observatory Greenland (RNO-G), we conducted radioglaciological measurements at Summit Station, refine our understanding target. We report...
We report the first observation of $B\to \eta' X$ transitions with high momentum $\eta'$ mesons. observe $39.0\pm 11.6$ B decay events $2.0< p_{\eta'} < 2.7$ GeV/c, region where background from $b\to c$ processes is suppressed. discuss physical interpretation signal, including possibility that it due to s g^*$ transitions. Given interpretation, we find ${\cal B}(B\to X_s) = (6.2 \pm 1.6(stat) 1.3(sys)^{+0.0}_{-1.5}(bkg))\times 10^{-4} $ for $2.0<p_{\eta'}<2.7$ GeV/c.
Abstract Using the RICE (Radio Ice Cherenkov Experiment) detector at South Pole, we have estimated variation in index of refraction (n ) firn, as a function elevation (z measured from surface down to z =-150 m. Measurements were made by lowering dipole transmitter into dry (5 (127 mm) caliber) borehole, originally drilled for experiment 1998, and determining signal arrival times, depth, englacial receiver array. We clearly confirm expected correlation n with ice density. Our measurements are...
We report an upper limit on the flux of relativistic monopoles based nonobservation in-ice showers by Radio Ice Cherenkov Experiment (RICE) at South Pole. obtain a 95% C.L. order ${10}^{\ensuremath{-}18}\text{ }\text{ }({\mathrm{cm}}^{2}\text{ }\mathrm{s}\text{ }\mathrm{sr}{)}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ for intermediate-mass ${10}^{7}\ensuremath{\le}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\le}{10}^{12}$ anticipated energy ${E}_{\mathrm{tot}}={10}^{16}\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. This bound is over magnitude...
Abstract The Askaryan Radio Array (ARA) experiment at the South Pole is designed to detect high-energy neutrinos which, via in-ice interactions, produce coherent radiation frequencies up 1000 MHz. Characterization of ice birefringence, and its effect upon wave polarization, proposed enable range estimation a neutrino interaction hence aid in energy reconstruction. Using radio transmitter calibration sources, ARA collaboration recently measured polarization-dependent time delay variations...
Using data recorded by the CLEO II detector at CESR, we report evidence for two new charmed baryons, one decaying into $\Xi_c^+\pi^+\pi^-$ via an intermediate $\Xi_c^{*0}$, and its isospin partner $\Xi_c^0\pi^+\pi^-$ $\Xi_c^{*+}$. We measure mass differences of states to be $M(\Xi_c^+\pi^+\pi^-)-M(\Xi_c^+)=$ $348.6\pm0.6\pm1.0$ MeV, $M(\Xi_c^0\pi^+\pi^-)-M(\Xi_c^0)=$ $347.2\pm0.7\pm2.0$ MeV. interpret these as $J^P = {3 \over{2}}^- $ $\Xi_{c1}$ particles, charmed-strange analogues...
Ongoing experimental efforts in Antarctica seek to detect ultra-high energy neutrinos by measurement of radio-frequency (RF) Askaryan radiation generated the collision a neutrino with an ice molecule. An array RF antennas, deployed either in-ice or in-air, is used infer properties neutrino. To evaluate their sensitivity, such experiments require refractive index model for ray tracing radio-wave trajectories from putative interaction point receiving antennas; this gives degree signal...
We report on analysis of englacial radio-frequency (RF) pulser data received over horizontal baselines 1–5 km, based broadcasts from two sets transmitters deployed to depths up 1500 meters at the South Pole. First, we analyze collected using RF bicone 1400 below ice surface, and frozen into boreholes drilled for IceCube experiment in 2011. Additionally, Dec., 2018, a fat-dipole antenna, fed by one three high-voltage ((1 kV)), fast ((1-5 ns risetime)) signal generators was lowered 1700-m deep...
