Regional cerebral blood flow measured in patients with dementias (N = 60) using xenon Xe 133 inhalation was compared measurements health volunteers 70). Volunteers were age-matched 15); another group younger. In normal aging, there is progressive, diffuse reduction of weight and gray matter (F1) but not white matter. Therefore, control subjects are necessary studies dementia. Alzheimer's disease (AD), F1 shows bilateral symmetrical reduction. The correlated atrophy estimated by computerized...

We aimed to assess the frequency of acute kidney injury (AKI) in different areas under concentration-time curve (AUC) values vancomycin (VAN) using a two-point blood collection method, allowing for accurate AUC assessment critically ill patients. This multicenter retrospective observational study was conducted eight hospitals. retrospectively analyzed data patients who had received VAN an intensive care unit (ICU) between January 2020 and December 2022. The primary outcome incidence AKI....

Atherosclerosis and osteoporosis are epidemiologically linked oxidation specific epitopes (OSEs), such as phosphocholine (PC) of oxidized phospholipids (PC-OxPL) malondialdehyde (MDA), pathogenic in both. The proatherogenic effects OSEs opposed by innate immune antibodies. Here we show that high-fat diet (HFD)-induced bone loss is attenuated mice expressing a single chain variable region fragment the IgM E06 (E06-scFv) neutralizes PC-OxPL, increasing osteoblast number stimulating formation....

SUMMARY A significant percentage (6.4%) of healthy subjects was found to contain anti-thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies in their sera. However, contrast with IgG from sera patients chronic thyroiditis, did not inhibit TPO activities both guaiacol and iodide assays. In addition, anti-TPO block the inhibition enzyme by patients. These findings suggest that do bind epitopes relating substrate-combining sites TPO. Thus, specificities may differ those cases thyroiditis.

The purpose of the present study was to report cases epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI)-naïve patients carrying a mutation associated with acquired resistance drug. Gene alterations in 77 lung carcinoma were analyzed by collecting and studying curette lavage fluid at time diagnosis. PCRs performed amplify hotspot regions EGFR genes. PCR products direct-sequenced mutations confirmed resequencing using different primers. Case 1 78-year-old Japanese male...

Aim Frailty and sarcopenia affect the prognosis quality of life patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, it remains uncertain which model is most suitable for evaluating vulnerability in COPD. We evaluated validity three frailty models – Kihon Checklist (KCL), Japanese version Cardiovascular Health Study Osteoporotic Fractures one older Methods This cross‐sectional study included 201 (aged ≥65 years) outpatients used to identify their correlation various indices...

Frailty is a poor prognostic factor in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although various studies have assessed the effects of conventional treatment bronchodilators, nutritional support, and rehabilitation for frailty COPD, none addressed traditional Japanese medicine (Kampo medicine). Herein, we report successful management using Ninjin'yoeito therapy 76-year-old patient COPD. Despite being prescribed multiple supplement therapy, education, rehabilitation,...

Gene alterations were analyzed by collecting and studying pleural effusion at time diagnosis. Examination revealed an exon 19 deletion gene.
