To generate estimates of the global prevalence and incidence urogenital infection with chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomoniasis syphilis in women men, aged 15-49 years, 2016.For gonorrhoea trichomoniasis, we systematically searched for studies conducted between 2009 2016 reporting prevalence. We also consulted regional experts. estimates, used Bayesian meta-analysis. For syphilis, aggregated national generated by using Spectrum-STI.For and/or 130 were eligible. Spectrum-STI database contained...

ABSTRACT Recently, the first Neisseria gonorrhoeae strain (H041) that is highly resistant to extended-spectrum cephalosporin (ESC) ceftriaxone, last remaining option for empirical first-line treatment, was isolated. We performed a detailed characterization of H041, phenotypically and genetically, confirm finding, examine its antimicrobial resistance (AMR), elucidate mechanisms. H041 examined using seven species-confirmatory tests, antibiograms (30 antimicrobials), porB sequencing, N....

ABSTRACT Recently, the first Neisseria gonorrhoeae strain (H041) highly resistant to expanded-spectrum cephalosporins (ESCs) ceftriaxone and cefixime, which are last remaining options for first-line gonorrhea treatment, was isolated in Japan. Here, we confirm characterize a second (F89) with high-level cefixime resistance France most likely caused treatment failure cefixime. F89 examined using six species-confirmatory tests, antibiograms (33 antimicrobials), porB sequencing, N. multiantigen...

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Neisseria gonorrhoeae seriously compromises the management and control of gonorrhea.• In vitro clinical N. to extended-spectrum cephalosporins (ESCs), last-line treatment for gonorrhea, have been reported from many, particularly well-resourced, settings globally.• The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Gonococcal Surveillance Programme (GASP) is key monitoring AMR trends, identifying emerging AMR, informing regular refinements guidelines public health...

Gonorrhoea is a major public health concern globally. Of particularly grave that resistance to the extended-spectrum cephalosporins has emerged during most recent years. This guideline provides recommendations regarding diagnosis and treatment of gonorrhoea in Europe. Compared outdated 2009 European guideline, this 2012 up-to-date guidance on, broader indications for testing gonorrhoea; introduction dual antimicrobial therapy (ceftriaxone 500 mg azithromycin 2 g) uncomplicated when...

The 2015 European C. guideline provides: up-to-date guidance regarding broader indications for testing and treatment of infections; a clearer recommendation using exclusively-validated nucleic acid amplification tests diagnosis; advice on (repeated) testing; the increased to reduce incidence pelvic inflammatory disease prevent exposure infection; recommendations identify, verify...

We describe a gonorrhoea case with combined high-level azithromycin resistance and ceftriaxone resistance. In February 2018, heterosexual male was diagnosed in the United Kingdom following sexual intercourse locally resident female Thailand failed treatment plus doxycycline subsequently spectinomycin. Resistance arose from two mechanisms combining for first time genetic background similar to commonly circulating strain. Urgent action is essential prevent further spread.

Gonorrhoea and MDR Neisseria gonorrhoeae remain public health concerns globally. Enhanced, quality-assured, gonococcal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance is essential worldwide. Background and Objective Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common vaginal disorder, characterized by depletion of normal lactobacillus-dominant microbiota overgrowth commensal anaerobic bacteria. This study aimed to investigate composition in women reproductive age (healthy with BV), view developing molecular criteria for BV diagnosis. Materials Methods Vaginal samples from 163 (79 control, 73 11 intermediate (Lactobacillary grade II flora) cases) were analyzed using 454 pyrosequencing...
