The physiological functions of lysophosphatidylethanolamine (lysoPE) have not been fully elucidated. In this study, the effects lysoPE on lipogenesis and lipolysis were investigated in a cultured human liver-derived cell line. intracellular lipid profile was detail using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to better understand underlying mechanism. expression genes related metabolism catabolism analyzed real-time PCR. LysoPE supplementation induced cellular droplet...

RNA-binding proteins provide a new layer of posttranscriptional regulation RNA during cancer progression. We identified motif protein 47 (RBM47) as target gene transforming growth factor (TGF)-β in mammary gland epithelial cells (NMuMG cells) that have undergone the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. TGF-β repressed RBM47 expression NMuMG and lung cell lines. Expression correlated with good prognosis patients lung, breast gastric cancer. suppressed metabolism-related genes, which were...

The optimal dietary fat content to induce clinical remission in active Crohn's disease has been the subject of controversy. We therefore performed a prospective, randomized, controlled study compare effects nutrient formulas differing amount medium-chain triglycerides (MCT).Thirty-six patients with whose activity index (CDAI) was > or =150 were included study. A formula 3.4 g per 2000-kcal dose used as low-fat (ED group), and 55.6 high MCT (TL group). The rate short-term induction at 6 weeks...

Apolipoprotein C-II (apoC-II) is a cofactor for lipoprotein lipase, plasma enzyme that hydrolyzes triglycerides (TGs). ApoC-II deficiency in humans results hypertriglyceridemia. We used zinc finger nucleases to create Apoc2 mutant mice investigate the use of C-II-a, short apoC-II mimetic peptide, as therapy deficiency. Mutant produced form with an uncleaved signal peptide preferentially binds high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) due 3-amino acid deletion at cleavage site. Homozygous had...

Three cases sharing the following radiologic features are reported: (a) abdominal conventional radiography—vascular calcifications at right hemicolon, (b) computed tomography—colonic wall thickening and venous calcifications, (c) barium enema examination—luminal narrowing of hemicolon thumbprinting. There were no clinical or laboratory findings suggestive portal hypertension. The disease entity, "phlebosclerotic colitis," should be differentiated from ordinary ischemic colitis.
